Awesome lecturer, super helpful, taking 160b with him was one of the best experience I've ever had at UCSB. UCLA is lucky to have him.
Best prof I've ever had
worst prof I've ever had
I highly recommend not to take his class because his lecture is unbelievably unhelpful and he gives no hints for homework. Unfortunately, if you need this class, you should find classmates to cooperate homework.
One of the worst professor I've had at UCSB as a stats major. Homeworks and assignments are difficult, and he does not provide a lot of help in lecture or during office hours. TAs are your best bet to pass the class. PLEASE AVOID IF POSSIBLE, just take it another quarter.
Avoid this guy at all cost. Lecture doesn't correlate much with exam. Doesn't know how to explain things not clear. Unclear grading criteria.
Overall professor Voss is a solid pick for this class. Lectures provide rough outlines of topics but you should read the book for clarity. His python homeworks are very fun but the written homework usually are harder but you can do majority of them after visiting office hours. Make sure to do well on the final as it is basically your grade.
Professor Voss is a good professor for Stochastic Processes, since that's one of his primary focuses. His lecture focuses on explaining theory and then giving some example problems relevant to the homework. The homework was challenging but never impossible. If you go to OH he's willing to help. Solve all the problems and you should do great.
Voss is one of my favorite professors in UCSB. He is very kind and caring! Python homework is interesting and helpful for learning the related concepts. Some problems in the midterm is a little bit tricky but the final is very straightforward. You should be fine if you understand all the examples discussed in the lectures/sections.
Voss is one of my favorite PSTAT professors. His lectures are clear and closely related to the textbook; the grading criteria is fair; super nice and accessible outside of class. His midterm and finals are fair as well. If you run through the lecture example, mid/final practice problem, and HW problems a few times, you should do fine.
Voss is a great professor, but he doesnt post solutions to the examples on the slides so your best bet is to actually show up to lecture and section, even though its not mandatory. Office hours are really helpful as well. The course material itself is really dense so its best to go to class, read, and ask questions at OH.
Professor Voss is patient and willing to help. I can feel that he really cares about what hes teaching. He typically writes down all to the example solutions on the blackboard, so would highly recommend to go to his lectures. His slides are really good guidelines to go through, but you still need to refer to the textbook to grasp the definitions.
