MALDONADO J K
I really enjoyed this class! Julie is very kind and understanding when personal things arise, and if you need to miss a day of class she has an attendance makeup form so that you can still maintain participation score. She's a very kind grader, and also is very knowledgable about the subject matter
LOVE Julie so much! She's genuinely so kind and has been my favorite professor at UCSB so far. The course content was interesting and she brings in some really cool guest speakers. You have a decent amount of assigned readings but she was so kind with deadlines and understanding personal situations. Taking another course w her this quarter!!
Super sweet professor who was willing to extend deadlines for the whole class for our midterm paper and our final paper. She brought a lot of interesting guest lecturers to class from the books and material we read. 3 books each around 100-200 pages, in addition to the required reading which was a bit. But the grading was fairly easy.
really interesting topics brought up in class, and she's pretty understanding. But she still kind of expected a lot from us considering we're in the middle of a pandemic. she also forced us to buy her expensive book that she wrote, which never sits right with me...
Such a kind and caring professor. Dr. Maldonado is extremely passionate about the subjects of the classes she teaches and is always available to help with assignments or talk about the topics. Definitely recommend taking any class with her!
She is such a good professor, always available outside the class. She will give you feedback by email as soon as possible! I wish i can take her class again!
Absolutely wonderful professor, probably the best Ive ever had. The perfect balance of a wonderful, kind person and an absolutely amazing instructor. Lectures are fascinating, she brings in many interesting case studies and outside speakers, and shes very modest about it but her research is AMAZING. 11/10!!
Dr. Maldonado is really well-organized and structured her class like an ideal college course. There was one big group project, a few in class readings (I didnt read and did fine), one assignment, and a final paper. I took the course over summer, and I only really had to work hard on the final paper. Attendance is taken for credit, but easy points!
Professor Maldonado is so amazing. She truly cares about her students and wants them to succeed.
Best teacher I have ever had. Does a great job of making the material applicable to real life, and willing to adapt material to cover current events. Super approachable and willing to clarify topics and homework questions. Some reading is discussed in class, but only few graded things. Final essay on topic you choose due usually during dead week.
I'm surprised Julie hasnt been rated yet! Her 130 series is amazing, she is the most down-to-earth, cool, fun, passionate professor I've had . She gets the class involved in many ways, and she also includes fieldtrips and guest speakers to talk about current issues in disaster relief, ecotourism. 2 papers, in-class writing, online reflections.
