While she is a very nice person and clearly cares about our learning, I didn't enjoy lectures very much. I found them to be often way too fast, littered with unnecessary tangents, circular explanations, and perhaps more than an appropriate amount of time spent talking about study mindsets. Make use of the textbook if you take her class.
Horrendous teacher. 1. Black box grading system. Syllabus is unclear, vague, and insufficient. Exam solutions often not posted afterwards. 2. Constant clerical/grading errors wasted time and caused stress. 3. Lectures were very unclear and difficult to follow. Textbook was not supplementary, but outright substitutional for lecture content.
I think Rachel has improved a lot since the last time she taught this course. Her midterm was appropriately difficult if you did the homeworks and attended lecture. The TAs for this course are really great - make sure to attend office hours and section if you want to succeed. Rachel's lectures can still be very fast paced but make sure you listen.
She was not amazing, lectures made no sense
Laughed at her own jokes when no one else did.
Rachel wasn't a great lecturer. You basically just have to read the textbook because she just goes on tangents. Also her midterm was the hardest exam I've ever taken. She questioned our previous education. But her TAs were good, which was the only good thing about the course.
