Sir Sokoll is the greatest man I have ever met. He let me borrow his Bugatti for my date. He saved my cat from a tree. He saved my marriage. Each week he would pass out $1000 to each student for our crippling debt. I was hit by a car and he taught me how to walk again. The paramedics declared me dead, but he brought me back to life. 10/10 professor
Aaron Sokoll is the GOAT. Would take his classes over and over again. 10/10 class, 10/10 man, you have to meet this man before you die. Took his high school US history class and Enviromental Civics class. Love this dude.
Kind hearted soul who will give you good feedback and will help you do your best on whatever it is you're studying. He's encouraging, and does his best to help you master your class. Definitely recommend him!
Aaron is pretty much the reason why I passed Arabic. He's a great TA that really cares about his students learning and growing in the topic. He's very accessible and willing to work through assignments with you. He wants you to succeed. He's awesome and you should 100% take the class if he's teaching it.
Extremely caring and understanding, with a real passion for helping people develop writing skills. Not the easiest grader in the world, but pretty accurate as to what is deserved for the effort put in. That being said, the class was surprisingly interesting and fun, even for a long 2 hr lecture. However, it was a relatively time consuming class.
3 writing projects: 1 two page project builder + 1 four page paper + 1 four page reflection on that paper. It's a lot of work, no doubt. But he's a pretty nice teacher so it's not too bad. Sometimes it's difficult to know exactly what the prompts are asking for.
Sokoll is magnificent and the best teacher I have had at UCSB.
Sokol is AWESOME. End of story. Take him or regret it. Your choice.
Really interesting class. Only a final and then weekly written assignments which are graded pretty hard but once you get the hang of them they are easy. He is a cool professor who makes class interesting and he always let us out early. The final was just one essay question and it was open notes and book.
