Not complaining bc of bad grades (I got A). He never takes regrade requests respectfully. When you want to discuss a problem with him, he just replies with "no" and refuses to explain why he took off points. Material taught in an ill fashioned way, he defends it by claiming the course was set up a long time ago. Being old does not mean it's good.

Stopple made me hate math for this quarter. His body blocks the chalkboard half the time so you have no time to write anything down. Your grade is entirely 5 exams. No notecard of any kind. You are in essence expected to memorize 75 proofs by the final. The median on the midterm was 17% and by the final it was about 40%. Do not take 117 with him.

Exams account for 90% of the grade, homework for 10%, and homework access requires an $80 payment. There are no slides, notes, or supportive resources—Canvas only lists exam dates. No practice midterm or final is provided, and emails are often ignored. The professor overestimates students' prior knowledge, assigns unrealistic homework, etc.

most people put ZERO effort in the class but expected a good grade. unlike most 4b profs, stopple taught us meaningful concepts instead of forcing us to memorize how to do useless, tedious computations that a computer could do in two seconds. lecture notes were a little messy but useful if you actually try to follow along. grading was reasonable.

His lecture is difficult to understand, and the exam accounts for 90% of the total grade. However, he hardly provides any useful resources or practice exams. He should recognize that 4b is a lower-level math course, not all students taking this course are majoring in math or statistics. Just don't take his class

He is an alright lecturer, but as for most lower division math, you should be fine with learning from Paul's notes. Sadly he seems to not enjoy the content of the course and often made comments about how the course was useless to us. I got a 96 and 100 on midterms, and got complacent, got a F on final and somehow ended with B. So pretty easy tbh.
