Maybe it was just the material being easier, but he was very clear on everything in this class. Midterm and final were very similar to homework. Only complaint would be the last assignment before the final, where it was 80 problems on linear algebra. It was tedious to do it all, but it really did help to learn the topic.
I've taken all the way through 5B and Ottman is by far the best teacher I've had. His class isn't easy, but he explains everything really well. This is pretty rare for math teachers at UCSB (most of them suck)
1 midterm, 1 final, quiz's in every section, & a bunch of online homework. He seems really nice and what not, but I could give a flying f*ck after i got my grade. Midterms and Final were very unfair, partial credit was almost not existent. Niceness only goes so far... HATE this professor, for real.
He is a decent professor though he can make mistakes often. He also is teaches a lot of trig.
I definatly agree with the person that commented below me. He makes it seem that his math class is the only class you have at UCSB. He assigns ridiculously long webwork assignments and his midterms and final were extremely difficult. Class averages on the test were D's on every exam. If you have a chance, choose another teacher
This is what it sounds like: he is a good 3C teacher, but I learned from experience he is a horrible 3B teacher. His HW was impossibly lengthy, and his tests were unbelievably difficult. I know I could have gotten a better grade, but that'd only happen if I let myself fail my other classes and did calculus from sunrise to sunset all quarter instead
