Very organized lectures. Discussion is key so make sure to do the readings.

Professor Adams is a wonderful ARTHI professor. Her lectures are very engaging and she reviewed with us exactly what would be on the midterms and exams. Reading weekly articles are required, but nothing was overly dense or boring. We went over each article in class. Professor Adams goes out of her way to know you individually and help you succeed!

This class was lecture heavy, but she is very clear in what she wants. Not an easy GE, but not too difficult and she obviously cares about what she is teaching. If you want to learn, and get writing credit without too much stress, take this class. Go to section, too.

Very interesting, but heavy lectures. Clear direction for all essays and tests. Important to study flash cards with info outside of class. Requires a decent amount of study time and writing the 2 essays. Midterm and final were combo of long and short essays. Get flash cards to study! Very kind woman who is very passionate. Interesting class.

If you watch all the lectures and go to your section, you'll be fine. Everything on the exams is covered in lectures. For essays, you just need to analyze paintings. Including sections, I spent usually abt 34 hours a week on this class, which is fine considering this is only a 4-unit class - tho I do wish there're fewer lectures.

Professor Adams is not a great public speaker and considered majority of course content is from lectures this makes everything so much harder for students. She gave too many instructions for our paper assignment (almost 10 pages of instruction for a 3 page essay!) Assignments were hard and I dont like art history to begin with. Not good.

Lectures are entertaining. The group projects during COVID proved to be difficult. She isnt the warmest and often words questions on the quizzes that make it seem like a trick question. If you read and do well on quizzes and group work the A isnt hard to get.

The class was overall doable. The material was interesting, but you had to be familiar with information on basically every page of the reader. The midterm and final were entirely based on the readings and their arguments. But she pretty thoroughly reviewed the readings in lectures, which, by the way, went by quickly because of constant note-taking.

I wasn't particularly interested in Dutch Art but the class made me a believer. She wants her students to succeed and even said that grades don't matter, its what you learn. Two caveats: lots of reading, and discussion. Also she wasn't easily available, needed to make an appointment to see her at office hours. (not a fan of that policy)

She is great. Wants everybody to succeed and will match your midterm grade to your final grade (if you do better on the final, which helped my grade!). She is passionate and knowledgeable, and her lectures are SO easy to take notes on. She'll even tell you what images you need to know. I'm a big fan of Dutch Art now, and am signed up for her 111C!

Her lectures are over simplified while the readings are very in depth and detailed. Lectures were somewhat interesting but the exams were completely directed towards the reading. She makes the class seem a lot easier than it actually is.
