I feel lucky to take a class from Dr. Koegel. He is an amazing, caring professor and person. He places more importance on his students understanding how to work with children with autism than getting hung up on material in the book. Easy A as long as you study, but easy material to grasp. If you can take this class, I think it is an absolute must.

I am both honored and humbled to get to take a class from this man. Its incredible that he is willing to stay at a public school and not sell out to a private institution. His passion for his work it makes his intro to autism course incredible. This class is about being engaged and learning through listening, not memorizing a book. Great class!

Class was great! The focus is on learning the material rather than going through the motions like other classes. Tests aren't hard but you still need to study and know the concepts. Definitely looks good on transcriptsresumes to take a class on autism taught by a leading researcher in the field.

Material is really interesting. He's a great lecturer. There's a lot of reading (there are 3 books), weekly online quizzes, 1 midterm, & 1 final paper. Tests are ok as long as you do the reading, go to class, & study. I would definitely recommend taking this class!

enjoyed the class and did well(A-) Material is not easy but grading is. Weekly quizzes on gauchospace, midterm, and a research paper worth 1/3 of the grade. Attendance is not mandatory, i only went 3x. read the material and the lectures posted online. found the lectures kind of boring but enjoyed the videos he & the TA's show in class. Recommend.

Great course and great professor. You get to learn about autism, not just the problems, but what to DO about it, from the most eminent researcher in the field. Has been in the autism field since it's infancy and contributed the most to it's advancement over the years! And he has no ego at all- always willing to help and chat with young students!

i hated him during the 1st lecture because it seem that grades made up a students worth. he requires a 3.0 i was let in with a 2.9. he gives interesting lectures with anecdotes of autistic children he has worked with. i found 1st midterm difficult, but i didnt read the 1st book. 2nd book was an easy read and tests became easier. he was very helpful

"he is a complete elitist, he totally believes in intelligence and grades and it is totally strange that someone who works with children with disabilities would take this stance.""Very unhelpful, seemed taken with himself and his reputation" i have to agree with these two posters. this is probably why he requires a 3.0 to be let in.

wow, completely disagree with the last two comments. I wish he'd lecture more but he's one of the leading autism researchers in the world so OF COURSE we want to learn about HIS WORK. YOU SHOULD FEEL HONORED, DUH! we're lucky to be at the university he does research at. I love this field, and his class is great!

Bob is a kind and interesting professor and his lectures are good. This class is totally misrepresented, it's not an intro to autism, but rather an intro to PRT, Bob's intervention method. Good class for what it is, but if you're looking for an overview of autism and intervention methods, you won't find it here unless you want to be fed propaganda.
