Super sweet and understanding prof. Lectures are interesting and easy to follow, but expect to take notes the entire class time. Graded on in-class essay for the midterm and cumulative final, as well as 8 total short responses. Learned so much about American history that helped shape my overall perspective.

Dr. Case is my favorite professor I've ever had. She is so knowledgeable and will always give you her time. I have had the privilege of taking multiple classes with her and she has truly helped shape my time at UCSB into something amazing. If you have the chance, take her classes, you won't regret it.

We wrote 10 papers, had two quizzes, a midterm and a final. She is REALLY tough on grading the papers but is generous for the quizzes. The midterm was a pain since there was little time and the prompts asked about SPECIFIC people. She does NOT post lectures on GS; they slides wouldn't help anyhow. BUT the material is very interesting.

Professor Case is AMAZING!! This isn't an easy class if you're looking for that but it is seriously great. She makes it really easy to participate in class and super comfortable at office hours. There is lot's of reading but it was all really interesting. I think anyone who is interested in the material and studies will do really well.

SUCH A TOUGH GRADER. I tend to receive A's on my papers in all other classes and in this class the highest I got was a B- and that was after I had spent weeks writing it (outline & all) and proofreading it with others. She expects students to already know America's history so she teaches the course without explaining much and tests are really hard.

Very hard grader, even if you do the reading and attend lecture

Turned out to be really interesting. Her lectures are easy to follow and well organised and I felt comfortable participating in class. 2 papers, 1 midterm and a final. She was very knowledgeable and the readings were actually really interesting even though there was a lot. I really enjoyed this class!

Professor Case is a really great teacher. She knows a lot and cares about her students. I was sometimes confused during class but she always helped me to improve. And I really improved during the semester. I took the feminist class and I was not disappointed about the material. I learnt a lot. Don't hesitate to go and see her to her office!!

She is nice but her lecturing is very boring and she is awkward. I wish she has info on her slides. If she didn't give us a study guide I would not have done well.

One of the most brilliant professors I have had at UCSB. She lectures with minimal notes, and is very clearly passionate about what she teaches (but be prepared to take a lot of notes, i recommend using a computer so you can type). The material is very engaging, and would recommend any class taught by Professor Case.

She was alright, not my type of professor. She gives us essays on the tests but we have no idea what it's going to be on. Her powerpoint presentations have no information so you have to listen to her, which is hard to do. The amount of terms we have to study for is a bit. If you know nothing on feminism and are not interested really, do not take!

Professor Case was really nice and the class material was interesting, covering a lot of antebellum-south, civil war, progressive era and into World War I. Also dealt heavily with issues of race relations in America. Since there's so much material the class and her lectures move pretty quick, but if you are dedicated it is very rewarding.
