He's not a very clear lecturer because he has an accent but after taking other physics professors, I actually thunk he's the best physics professor at UCSB. Nicknamed Mr. Diis... go to lecture and you'll see why! His demos were the best part of lecture and he really makes the class fun. Take CLAS for sure if you want to get an A though.
He was a cool funny old guy. His experiments in class were funny. but in terms of his teaching, all he does is derive equations. Also, his grading is 25% for each of the 2 midterms and 50% final. There is no buffer with homework or anything but he does curve down to an 85% for an A.
He is a precious older man and will make you laugh, but his teaching is simply not helpful. He proves standard equations true but hardly does any practice problems to put the information into context. In order to pull of a B- I had to hire a private tutor, because the CLAS guy wasnt helpful (to me) at all.
Incredible professor! He is hilarious to watch and is incredibly knowledgeable. He made physics fun and knows how to explain everything. You have to be an active learner and ask him questions or else he'll blast through the material. Easily the best professor I've had at UCSB
Very smart, definitely knows what he's talking about. He's funny and his questions make you think. I could see his classes being difficult for somebody who doesn't like physics, however. I've had him as a teacher for 3 classes now and would choose him over most other physics professors here.
Worst professor in my 4 quarters at UCSB. He made me dislike physics with a passion because of his lack of knowledge, messy hand writing, and useless lectures where he taught nothing and just wrote formulas on the board. I was lucky to get an A because his tests are not easy, even if you study the practice exams he gives you. Avoid at all costs.
