She is mean in every sense of the word. Talks down to her students, assigns huge and boring amounts of reading all of which is primary sources. A midterm the day after Halloween! Plus I heard a rumor she eats babies... I'm not saying she does, im just repeating what I heard. AVOID!
the class is awful, and to make matters worse, so is she. I can't stand the way she talks down to her students and treats like we are in 4th grade. I am over her and this class.
Worst kind of teacher. Snotty, boreing, arrogant, and a bad educator. She is not only a raging **** but she doesn't know her subject well. Makes a surprising number of mistakes. No matter where I sit in her class people are making fun of her.
I dont like her. She is not what a professor should be at the university level. She is more like that annoying teacher you had in middle school who stood there waiting for it to be quiet with a stern face on. her students dont seem to respect her, I know I dont. lectures are ok....nothing special
she is nice and answers questions, but she's kind of harsh - i mean the midterm the day after halloween - not cool. i dont think she has any fun, so doesnt want us to either.
great lectuerer; always stops to answer questions. great vocabulary, and up to have some fun
There's a lot of reading but it's rather interesting. Although the midterm is after or around halloween she had good reason to place the exam date there. A prof shouldnt be judge by a midterm date but the quality of work and teaching style...
total ****... she scheduled the midterm the day after halloween and lectures in a very snooty monotone voice. AWFUL!
Lots of reading that we were supposed to be quizzed on and we were only quizzed twice. The class was composed of a research paper, essay midterm, essay final, and 2 (supposed to be 8) quizzes. She is accommodating, responds to emails quickly, and her lectures are well structured.
Really interesting lecturer. Yes there is a lot of reading but it's interesting and she elaborates on the reading in lecture. Says she gives "pop quizzes" in order to encourage you are actually reading, but she often just hints and nudges when there will be a quiz. Midterm and final are essays, quizzes are easy if you do the reading.
She reported me as plagiarism to the school for just one sentence (20 words) of misquote. Although the school dismissed the allegation and stated that my behavior did not involve plagiarism, she still gave my midterm paper 0 points. Don't take this professor's class if you don't want to waste two weeks trying to prove your innocence.
This is the meanest professor I have ever seen. She reported me as plagiarism to the school for just one sentence (20 words) of misquote. Although the school finally dismissed the accusation, she still gave my midterm paper 0 points. Don't take this professor's class if you don't want to waste two weeks trying to prove your innocence.
She's not awful, she's just boring. Luckily, the class content is pretty interesting if you're into history. Her lectures seem to drag on for hours because she's monotone, but my TA made everything incredibly fun and easy.
She's super sweet and my TA was an ANGEL and an easy grader. One or two short weekly readings. If you go to lecture you don't need to buy the textbook, she discusses everything. No exams, only two papers. Really liked her lectures and this class in general, which is saying something because I hate history.
Excellent Professor. Definitely take if you are interested in studying the ancient world. Took as a history major but would have been excellent for anyone taking as a GE. She was always at office hours and extremely willing to answer any questions during class.
Took her for an Honors Seminar. Pretty difficult, but it was a class that focused on her own research work, so she knew a lot and was very helpful. I guess many take her for History classes, like 2A. She focuses on Roman history, so 2A isn't her expertise. She expects a lot of students but also really cares.
Prof. Digeser is a very friendly person and really helps you out if you need it. The presentation slides do not help much, so it's really important to actually show up to lecture where she verbally gives majority of the information. Since the tests are essays, the overwhelming details given aren't so bad because you only need to know main ideas.
Lacks mastery of the subject matter involved in 2A. Therefore, she often "ums" and "errs" during lecture as she reads off the slides--which are themselves sparing in information. She's nice, but doesn't have many insights into the subject, which leaves the class lectures with a boring and vapid tone. She might be better in other classes, not sure.
Going in to class you may fall asleep, especially if the class was 75 minutes. Was not the worse class I've had here but you have to be able to listen well and take notes in order to succeed
Both the lecture and the book are important to understanding the class. Without one theres no way I'd pass
She gets really into her lectures so yo don't really get bored when listening to her.
She's passionate. It's more of a study of history as a discipline. You learn how historians look at the past and use it to theorize what we know as "history" today. Lectures a good but can sometimes get boring; she's kind of monotonous. Hard 1800 word paper where the prompt is only pictures. Get ready to read more than you ever have.
I really liked Dr. Digeser and enjoyed taking History 2A. She's a great lecturer and her lectures were very interesting , although if you don't do the assigned readings from the textbook and the primary sources you may be confused. If you put in the effort (do the readings and attend lectures) you'll be able to get a good grade.
Lectures can be a little lengthy but if you're into history they aren't too bad (and can be quite interesting!). But make sure, and this is important, that you DO NOT MISS A LECTURE. She gives pop quizzes sometimes and the mid-term and final are based on her lectures, not as much on textbook. Generally, it's an easy class, just do the work for it.
