i took this class as my first phil class as a phil major and i absolutely loved him. he doesnt post the lectures so you have to attend and take notes but the TAs go more in depth to develop the notes. he does iclicker but u can skip two lectures . very great at explaining concepts. only 3 papers, no final or midterm.

I was skeptical about taking a Phil class, but glad I did! Korman makes each lecture so entertaining that class is over before you know it! Make sure you see your TA in OH before papers are due to get the best grades possible! Don't bother doing all the readings- just read about the subjects you're writing your paper about. Would recommend for GE.

3 papers, the first is worth 20% while the last two are both worth 35% and each are about 3-4 pages long. Attendance in section and lecture are both mandatory, each account for 5% of the grade. These papers require some intense analysis and thought behind them, but his lectures are very straight forward and are very useful in the papers.

He was an amazing professor and it was easy to pay attention. He breaks down these complex concepts so thoroughly that you can easily understand them. He is a great speaker as well. The course structure itself is mostly based on 3 papers. I'm generally not the best writer, so I wish there were other ways we could have been tested in this class.

Long lectures will be very easy to sit through. He keeps your attention the whole time(very exciting and enthusiastic guy). If you have a problem just reach out to him; he'll definitely help out. He is super clear and his lectures are interesting

Short version: 3 papers and attendance. That's your whole grade. This was my first philosophy course and having it be with Korman's first time teaching it Fall 2017 was an experience. It was definitely hard for me to learn to write a philosophy paper but Korman and the TAs are very helpful. Korman's lectures were interesting and engaging.

Going to lecture has never been easier. Korman is very entertaining and you will find that the lectures fly by quicker than you would think. Our entire grade was based on three papers, but he does an excellent job at making his expectations clear and thoroughly outlines the grading criteria in class. The material covered was very interesting.

Three papers are your entire grade. If u put in the effort, u can get an A. Super easy on work load, you dont have to read anything or buy a book. Loved korman sweetest nicest most caring and passionate professor I love him. Take the class!!

Dan Korman was a great professor! Lectures were engaging and easy to understand. No quizzes, tests, midterms, or a final. Your grade is based off of three papers and attendance. Papers were a little difficult at first because of the style but once you figure it out the other papers are a breeze. Also enjoyable because he reminded me of Ted Mosby.

Took this class for GE credit but really enjoyed it. Korman really makes you think during his lectures and the papers weren't too bad once you get the hang of it.

Dan breaks major philosophy topics down simple for his students to understand. Anyone can tell that he's passionate about what he does and he loves what he's doing. He's easily accessible by email and makes sure his TAs are too.

I was intrigued already to take philosophy classes, but did not know what I was getting myself into. However, the class convinced me to take up philosophy as a major and really challenged me to be precise and thorough in my thinking. An extremely interesting class, and I'm glad that Professor Korman was my first philosophy professor.

Great professor! Lectures are very interactive and allows students to voice their criticisms on interesting topics such as free will. No test, quizzes, or homework! Grade is determined by three papers and lecture/ section attendance (so don't skip class) Papers can be difficult due to the specificity, but you'll get the hang of it!
