Great class overall, lectures can get a bit boring, exams are straight forward and pretty simple if you actually study. TA's are very helpful and lowk funny.

He is a sweet man but sometimes the lectures just get too boring and I lose focus but it is a fun class and I would take again.

He has a very thick accent so its hard to understand him sometimes. His slides don't relate to what he talks about. A lot of reading but I never did it because there's no homework. A lot of the final and the midterm were common sense. The TAs are great but they clearly don't agree with a lot of his practices.

Professor Singh is such a passionate lecturer! This class was engaging and interesting (you get extra points for attending the guest lectures). Please please go to his lectures towards the end of the quarter! There were maybe 30-45 people there towards Week 6-10 and it's so disappointing :( I can tell that he loves his job

For the final, we had to hand write a 1000 word essay along with 25 multiple choice questions in 1 hour and 15 minutes since he had the test on week 10. I would not take this class again for that reason. Other grades were 1 midterm, 2 section presentations worth 10% in total and section attendance worth 10%. Overall interesting class.

So much reading! It's actually crazy. Avoid this class if possible because it was about 150 pages of reading a week. The professor assigned way too much for a lower division introduction class.

Really disliked this course. Enrolled to learn about the processes of globalization, but the vast majority of the class was concerned primarily with economics and subject matter which was not engaging whatsoever. Lectures felt like they dragged on forever. Mandatory attendance for sections. Assignments were easy enough, but avoid this class.

Professor Singh is a really nice, approachable guy. Lectures were hard to keep up with sometimes, and there are a lot of assignments -- forum posts, two news assignments, 3 short answers, and a short essay. Along with midterm and final, both of which were multiple choice. Do the readings, they will help you a lot!

An EXTREMELY wonderful professor, who has clear grading criteria and motivates you to research things you like. You will definitely learn a lot if you're willing to chat with him in his OHs. And if you just want to get a good grade, you will be fine as long as you really put in your effort and thinking. Best prof I've ever had honestly

This class had no exams and the grades were determined by a few short essays FRQs and one larger research project. The lectures were a mixed bag of interesting and boring, but overall the class is pretty easy and definitely very doable. Singh is a great guy and you can tell he is really passionate and knowledgeable on the subject matter.

loved this class. He works with students and allows a very doable and accessible due date timeline (meaning there are less assignments than once a week, and you can choose which units you engaged with the most to write on). All of his readings were free, refreshing, and worded in a very easy-to-understand manner.

Best!! I thought his coursework was challenging in the most constructive way. He was such a dialogical teacher, made knowledge very accessible, and helped me improve my critical thinking, writing ability, and the way I approach learning in higher academia. My favorite political science professor by far, I wish he was one of the permanent faculty!

Professor Singh is a very passionate professor. His readings are enriching and digestible. His perspective on political topics is also very refreshing. He is understanding and cares about the health and success of his students. This was one of my favorite courses I have taken.

DEFINITELY get to know Prof Singh if you can. He is incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about what he teaches. Go to office hours with him, because he is amazing at helping you find confidence and he also isn't afraid to give you clear feedback that is incredibly useful. GREAT MENTOR!

lectures are kind of a drag but tests are based off them so just read the powerpoints. lots of reading but just skim. the assignments are a little confusing at first but theyre easy graded. theres a project for the final and thats pretty straightforward. lots of guest lectures which are interesting.

Professor Singh is one of the best professors in the entire PS department. He really cares about his students' well-being and was super accommodating during COVID. He is VERY KNOWLEGEABLE, is always available for OH outside of class, and the materials he covered were always super interesting and not covered in other PS courses here.

Prof Singh is passionate about his work. lectures can be a bit boring and readings are dense. He brings in guests lecturers which is nice. Lots of rolling assignments to complete which can be kind of confusing, but youll get the hang of it eventually.

Professor Singh was a really amazing professor to have, especially at the beginning of the crazy pandemic. He brought in a lot of personal experience and an amazing international background to all that he taught us about and it was a total pleasure to be able to attend the few sessions that we had and to meet up with him outside of class time.

I'm taking two classes with professor Singh this quarter and I really have enjoyed them. He is clearly passionate about the subjects he teaches and loves to answer questions. There wasn't much reading, but lots of live lectures/papers. He brought in guests and incorporated films to make it more interesting! He's also super nice in office hours!

Singh is one of the finest professors out there. Has an incredible breadth of knowledge/experience and has worked/taught in many different countries. Has expectations when it comes to attendance and engagement, goes off on (interesting) tangents, so if you are not one to pay attention don't take his classes. Easy assignments, study hard for exams.

Super interesting lecturer and really fun to talk to. As long as you keep up with the readings and lectures you will be fine. I found the tests much easier compared to those of other professors in the department. The processor is really approachable and office hours are a good way to help your grade

Professor Singh was really awesome. Especially since this class ended up being online because of the lock down. He made it really easy for us to understand what we needed to do. He also did not over load us with work or reading. The class was also very interesting.

I really enjoyed this class. The topics and lectures were clear and easy to understand. It is a very engaging class, so if you are interested about politics of development this is your teacher.
