One of the best online classes Ive ever taken ! Dr. Weber is a respected doctor with a Ph.D & MD. I will definitely take another one of his clases soon !
This was the most unreasonable class I've ever taken. Since it's remote, there are no tests, but huge time consuming competitively graded projects. This will definitely take time away from other classes and the grading criteria is not always clear or logical. I'm writing this to warn others like I wish I had been, He's a nice guy, but awful class.
Rene was an intelligent guy, but he had really high expectations for a summer class. be ready to listen to him repeat the same lecture, waste 30 minutes doing the roll call, and then throwing all of the extra work that you couldn't get to in class because he wouldn't stop rambling on irrelevant stories.
Weber is a really passionate teacher and cares a lot about the success of his students. Sometimes the lectures were a little too hypothetical and got confusing, but as long as you study on your own and do all of the practice book problems ,the class in manageable.
Weber is a great professor who's really passionate about what he teaches. I liked going to his lectures even though stats is pretty boring, but I looked forward to class. The tests were pretty difficult but if you study and go over the book problems you'll be fine. I did a lot better than expected and the TA (Alex Aune) was really helpful.
He's a good prof, very passionate about the subject, and cares about his students. He posts his lectures online, so it is easily accessible. The grade is made up of two exams and two debates and there's extra credit if you do sona. Even if you do bad on an exam, you can still get a pretty decent grade overall as the class is point based!
He will test you the specific numbers and years which definitely are meaningless. Lectures are boring. I don't like him.
This class was hard to understand at times because of his accent but after a while you could clearly understand him. There was one midterm and one final with some multiple choice (true or false) and some written problems. The class is also curved so it only benefits some people and hurts others.
Weber is a great guy. He is very helpful when you might be lost or confused. However, I realized I relied mainly on section to learn the material. The TAs were phenomenal and extremely helpful. Math isn't my strong suit so this was a pretty difficult course for me.
Very long-winded, it's hard to stay focused in his class. He's a knowledgeable and nice teacher, but it was just really hard for me to pay attention to his lengthy lectures. He goes off on tangents a lot too. His slides are similarly lengthy, small paragraphs instead of bullet points. I like him as a person and scholar... but as a lecturer, ehh
I absolutely LOVE Weber! He loves teaching and its evident by the way he's in the classroom. Always there to help and VERY understanding. Come to class and do the readings GOLDEN. Seriously love this guy and will miss having him after i graduate.
Pretty easy class and his curve helps a lot. Material does get harder after the midterm but still not bad and I'm terrible at math. Final is easier than the midterm only because of the time. Got an A- with not much effort.
He was such a sweet guy and he made statistics easy for me and I am not a math person. He lets you use the textbook and notes on the tests which is awesome. If you have to take a stats class, take this instead of PSTAT. Not a comm major but it was still relevant.
this class is wayyy easier than I thought, that doesn't mean you shouldn't study though. Weber is a nice professor who cares a lot about his students well-being. And his interaction with students is also interesting.
The material gets hard as hell after the midterm and his lectures become hard to follow from there on. However he's a super nice guy and there are no surprises whatsoever on his tests. You must do the HW and utilize Weber or your TA for all the help possible if you're not good at math and need to pass this class (Precomm majors - this means you!)
I love Prof. Weber! He is super smart but the same time a super sweet helpful professor. Im horrible at anything thats related to math but he encouraged me and was very helpful in many ways. the class itself is a bit hard for me, since Im pretty much math-retarded, however its a fair class to take for math/science GE.
Entertaining guy and the material is pretty interesting. The tests are focused on the slides (which are online) so the substantial amount of reading isn't too much of a problem. 10pg paper and a 6pg paper so there is a fair amount of writing but both boosted my grade. Midterm and a final... both are mc and fairly common sense if you attend lecture
His accent is so strong and translations are a bit confusing at times. However, Weber is so nice and his class is very straightforward/simple that you shouldn't have much trouble getting an A. The grading scale is very liberal.
Quite a good instructor! i'm not going to deny it, Stats wasn't my thing, but Prof. Wedber made it comprehensible. Everyone in my Sorority told me that I would enjoy the class...I just didn't believe that I would enjoy Stats! Getting a private hour of tutoring every so often really helped me on the mid-term and the Fianl. Prof. Weber, you Rule!!!!
I didn't learn much but the class is easy to pass if you do all the hw, go to section and prepare notes for the open book/note midterm and final. Highly recommend taking class w/ him NOT METZGER. (took w/ Metzger and got a D+, took again w/ Weber and got a B with the same amount of effort. And his accent is entertaining.
i took his class last summer--he has a slightly thick accent but if you can get through it, his teaching style makes learning easy to understand. and to top it off, he has a HUGE grading scale curve so its not hard to pull off a good grade in the class.
