Class is a little boring and there is a lot of reading and writing homework (which is to be expected). Every project I did better than the last, as long as you put in effort to your writing and make revisions for the final portfolio an A is very manageable.
Yaps so much about useless information, feels like a high school course, not useful at all. completely waste of time. professor is a hard grader
You'll learn a lot about writing in this class. The teacher aims to not only improve your writing skills, but teach you to analyze and write in new genres. However, the workload is quite intense (though not unreasonably so). If you want to improve your writing and aren't afraid of work, go for it.
Eva is a good professor and she gives helpful feedback, but be prepare to write A LOT!!!!!! If you take other writing courses in the same quarter, I do suggest you to choose another WRIT2 professor because you will feel a bit overwhelmed if you are Eva's class. Be careful when reading the writing instructions.
(taken online during COVID) for a 5 unit class, i definitely think it required less work than expected. be prepared to read a few articles and write 1-3 assignments a week. lectures were pretty short. no final, just a portfolio(that you will have a rough draft of already and just need to revise to turn in). a generous grader and seems very caring!
Take her class in 2020 Spring. Very KIND teacher. Feel comfortable to talk with her. But a lot of writing:(
She was a really sweet lady. Be prepared for a bunch of writing though, there was an essay due almost every week. We did a lot of free writing and there was also a lot of required outside reading. You can tell she cares and always offers to help with any assignment. She's also a very easy grader.
I was hesitant to take a writing class, but its mandatory. With that being said, she's really great at teaching. She gives very clear explanations and is generous with grading. I highly recommend taking her. The class was 1hr and 50min, which I felt was too long, but that was out of her control. She also gave really good feedback on the essays.
Absolute gem. Caring, thoughtful, and engaging. Eva's course was a treat. Put in the effort and you will get the grade that you desire.
Taking Writing 2 with Eva is an investment that will pay off. When I would discuss my Writing 2 class with my friends who had it with other professors, I found out that my friends had less work, but they also felt that they learned a lot less than I did. I would highly recommend Eva, especially if you are serious about improving your writing.
The class should be chill as long as you do all of the assignments on time. It's a lot of writing sometimes but it shouldn't be super difficult. She grades with really clear feedback and wants you to improve as a writer. She makes it really clear that she's accessible outside of class if you need help.
shes really laid back. just 3 papers and a final portfolio. do the assignments on time you wont be stressed, the papers are fun to write and going to office hours pays off. go to class and do your homework, its an easy A
The class itself is a lot of writing (not difficult, mostly busy work). But Eva made this class engaging and enjoyable. I really recommend taking writing 2 with her. She was not a harsh grader, but she gave really good feedback. This was a way to boost your GPA and become a better writer
The WRIT2 class is very time consuming, however I always felt Braunstein cared about my papers and my progress as a writer. Go to her office hours and follow her instruction, and if so, you will get good grades on your papers. Lectures are a drag due to the 2 hour session-mainly peer-review activities, but also important if you want solid papers.
Really upset. The lectures do not help. No specific instructions on the essay, which makes the prompt really confusing. A lot of writings. Do not understand her standard of grading.
Shes very chill and doesnt knock off points for attendance but be prepared to write a lot.
Braunstein is an exceptional professor, she always makes time to go over your essays with you and provides great feedback. I would definitely recommend her if you are looking to improve your writing skills.
Professor Braunstein is one of the best writing professors I have met in UCSB. She gives really helpful feedback and she always tries her best to help you with your weaknesses. All the assignments and project builders are helpful for developing the big essays.
Didn't know what I was getting myself into, but was glad that the reading was all we talked about during lectures
Gives helpful feedback on papers and is very accessible outside of class
One of my favorite teachers at UCSB. She was the sweetest professor and had fascinating lectures. The quizzes were pretty easy, just work off of the slides for the text identification. The only difficult thing in the class was the amount of readings that she gave. They are very dense and take a little while to understand. Would take again!
First, a disclaimer: I took this class over the summer so it was quite time-consuming to do all the readings. However, the prof is very accessible outside of class, extremely friendly, and I loved the class. Some days the contents may feel dry, but she makes sure to make it as interesting as possible. Tests are simple.
Eva's great! 106 can be reading heavy and is very philosophical/theoretical, and her reading questions seem like extra work but they help to get the main points of the readings and actually save you time so you can skip the unimportant stuff. She's super friendly and is always available and approachable for help/discussion. 1 midterm 1 final paper.
Braunstein is super enthusiastic and very approachable. The course material for RS106 does not match how I interpreted the course description, it is very theoretical and philosophical. This class was very challenging for me (I am not a religious studies major) but I did learn a lot and Braunstein was understanding and helpful
