I failed Physics 6A my first time round due to a really bad midterm, but Freund is a extremely good physics professor and his class is pretty easy if you know what your doing. His practice exams are very similar to the ones found on exams. He always keeps you engaged in lecture and is very helpful!
Great professor, understanding. Physics is hard, but study the practice midterms, make sure you know how to do those problems inside and out and you'll be set for the tests.
For an early morning class, Freund made me enjoy physics, and I had no exposure to physics before college. He's entertaining, his practice tests are similar to the actual exams, and there's no Sapling! His demos are really intuitive, albeit somewhat tangential, and his lectures are sufficient enough to do well on tests. Best prof of the 6 series.
Freund is a great professor. Physics is not my strong suit, but his comedic character and clear lectures made it much more enjoyable. He may jump around topics sometimes, but covers all the material fairly well. WORK ON the practice tests. He truly cares for all of his students and if you put in the effort, hell go it of his way to help you.
Freund is AMAZING!! Best out of all the physics 6 series professors. Make sure to understand the practice test and finals and you will do well!
BEST PROFESSOR I HAVE EVER HAD. HE KNOWS HOW TO TEACH, HILARIOUS, AND EASY TO TALK TO. SERIOUSLY, TAKE HIM IF YOU CAN!! WE LOVE DADDY FREUND!!!!!!!
Amazing professor! He not only keep the subject interesting but he cares about his students, which is VERY hard to find at UCSB. Tests are difficult but do-able if you go to office hours. I LOVE HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hes a very scattered teacher, definitely needs to condense and organize his lectures better. You dont need to go to class to pass as long as you review and understand the homework and practice tests. He also uses unusual variables in comparison to standard physics. Wouldnt take again.... however best out of the 6 series teachers.
Hilarious, e(a)rnest, and caring professor. Pay close attention to his lectures and really understand the practice midterms to do well on his tough exams. I found his lectures to be a bit confusing and boring at times, but he shares interesting and entertaining stories. He's very approachable!
- Great professor to listen to, can jump around on concepts though - I find it helpful to read thru the textbook, most people don't - Tough exams - Highly recommend taking him for 6c during the summer
Freund is a great professor, teaches well especially for such a conceptual subject. Pay attention in class and you'll do well, iClickers count towards your grade anyways. He's always willing to help, I try to take him for every physics class.
Do the practice tests, and follow along with the steps he takes to do problems during lecture. Practice is key. Funny dude.
Hes a chill dude, but half the time he seemed confused. His tests were fair if you put in the time. CLAS was the real life saver. But if you're willing to put in effort outside of lecture he's a good professor because he's hilarious and give out extra credit for the homework.
He's got some real nice forearms.
I LOVE him. Good luck finding another professor that care about their students more than Freund does. During the final I was asking a question and afterwards he check in with me to see if I feel ok about the test. It's so hard to believe ucsb doesnt make him a full time teacher.
Freud does a lot of example problems in class. He doesn't really explain the theory behind concepts and doesnt define variables. He changes the problems on the test so they're different from examples in class, so really understand the examples. Don't just try to memorize them. Try to understand the why because that's what will get you the A.
Best Physics professor at SB. The physics departments needs to make this guy a full-time professor and not jut the summer. He simplifies all the concepts so that bio majors like myself can actually understand and "enjoy" learning the topics
Great Professor. Definitely recommend taking any class he teaches. Tests are straight forward.

Ernest is an awesome teacher! I hated physics 6a, but he made the last two classes in the series bearable. he has fun demos and a fun guy to talk to outside of class. highly reccomended, although he won't be in sb anymore, which sucks.
he's so hot...i skipped a lot of classes but his...i went to every class meeting. This is the standard of being a professor, is to help generate interest in students to learn more. I'm already crazy about physics before i took his classes. Now I am feeling the excitement again. If I'll become a professor Ernest Freund is my role model!!!
Great Physics teacher - made class fun, interesting, and taught exactly what would be on the test. IF you can take him, it's the best opportunity for Physics 6B. He rocked. A+
Ernest is really a cool teacher. His demo is very interesting and I enjoyed his class. Tests are not very hard, just study the practice tests, you will do well.
Ernest is one of the few science teachers who actually made class fun. He gives very fair tests and a generous curve. Class is actually interesting with all his demos and such. Highly recommended! Also nice to look at ;)
