I loved Professor Padula and I hope to take another course taught by her someday! She is nice and very approachable. I plan on minoring in Italian Studies and she made me want to do it even more. She even made me consider double-majoring with Italian. She is so passionate about the language, teaches well, and sets you up for success!
I loved having Professor Crickette. There were only 8 people in the class and it was fun because she would give every single one of us attention, especially when we were struggling with some verb conjugations. She was funny, caring, and very understanding. I looked forward to her class every morning. I progressed my Italian with her so much. 10/10!
Best Italian professor I have had so far. Super fair and really wants her students to succeed. Somehow she makes the class super engaging and fun to go to. She pushes you just enough to stretch your abilities. She makes me want to succeed! Love her!
Absolutely loved having her. Material wasn't difficult but not an easy A and she's very helpful and speaks English when the class doesn't understand something and is accessible at office hours. Overall one of my favorite professors and would definitely take again.
I loved her! She's easy to understand and is always available to help. She responds to emails quickly and grades really fairly. If you put in a little bit of effort, you will be fine. Class is pretty mandatory, but not bad because it's enjoyable.
I'm so happy I chose this as my language! She's an amazing teacher and she's very energetic. Way more warm than any of the other professors I have had at UCSB so it was a treat. Quite a few quizzes, but they are pretty easy as long as you take 20-30 minutes to study for it. If you ever read this Prof, GRAZIE!
Professor Crickette is so sweet! Her English is amazing and she's super engaging. I highly recommend going to her office hours as well. The class itself wasn't a breeze, but she does what she can to make sure you understand and do well. Also, the class I took didn't have a traditional midterm which was nice.
Ive had friends take classes from Prof Crickette, and they were 100% spot on, shes the sweetest teacher! Learning a new language isnt easy, but coming to her class Is always the high point of my day. Keep up with material, though, she does expect some effort. I cant wait to study abroad because of her descriptions of Italy :)
super funny and sweet and always available to help with correcting any essay! fun class to attend :)
I took Crickette for ITAL 3 and 4. 3 is group-based, while 4 is self-driven. She speaks at the right speed during class, her English is perfect, and she is really helpful when any difficulty arises. She empathizes with us a lot more than other professors I know. She expects you to try to learn Italian, so effort is necessary. I recommend her 100%!
Professor Valentina was the best Italian professor I've had at UCSB thus far. She is very energetic, uses Kahoot and interactive PowerPoints in her lectures. There are quizzes every week, which are moderately difficult if you don't prepare for them. Italian 2 definitely takes more work than Italian 1. You will be fine if you put in the work!
LOVE HER! Such a sweet professor and really wants you to understand the material. EASY A! Just show up, participate, & learn. Quizzes are super easy as long as you take 20-30 minutes to study for it. Midterm & final are a PIECE OF CAKE! I actually enjoyed coming to class everyday & I recommend going to her office hours to proofread assignments.
Perfect professor in Italian class. She is patient and good to students. Even brought some food to us one time. Highly recommended! I like her!
By far one the most messiest professors on campus. She expects one to know italian and she is all over the place with her teaching. It was really such a bad first impression for the italian language because she just made it so confusing.
She is really nice and the class is pretty easy. The only hard part is paying attention in lectures because of her heavy Italian accent.
Her lecture is unclear sometimes, but she tests super detailed info for the multiple choice exams. The combination of three essays, online quizzes and two multiple choices is kind of exhausting. She doesn't go easy on the papers. This class might be hard if you are looking for an easy A.
She is the type of teacher to have very vague powerpoint slides and fully explain the slides in lecture, Listening to what she has to say is really important if you don't want to be behind,I didn't buy the book because it's kind of biased and doesn't get to the point,You can find everything online
Prof. Padula is hilarious and encourages open discussion in class. Honestly this class was an easy A. Clear grading criteria, insanely easy midterm + final, and you get extra credit if you decide to make a pizza from scratch at home. Lectures can be boring, but she really gives you a taste of authentic Italian culture.
Italian Culture as it should be, Fashion, Food, Mafia, Politics, and Modern life in Italy. Make a pizza for your friends for extra credit. Show up, have fun, easy A.
I love this woman. She is smart, confident, beautiful and she knows how to teach Italian! I will always take her when possible. You cannot fail one of her classes unless you really don't try.
Accent is very clear, and she speaks slow which I appreciate. Be prepared to speak only in Italian. She WILL call on you if she see you not paying attention. GO TO OFFICE HOURS!
Valentina is by far one of my favorite language professors at UCSB. She really takes the time to make sure her students understand the rules to learning the language and is always eager to help anyone. She makes herself available whenever needed. She always hints towards pop quizzes and reviews for tests are extremely helpful! Would take again!
I absolutely loved this class. There was a short book that was an easy read along with articles on GS. I never read the articles and was fine. 1 midterm, 2 easy short pages (2 pages each), and 1 final. She is awesome and her lectures really give you a taste of what Italian culture is really like. I would HIGHLY recommend this class!
Padula was really excited during each lecture. You don't really need to read the book because she gives a detailed summary during class. The weekly quizes are pretty easy if you have gone to class.
