She was super sweet, you will need to do a decent amount of studying outside of class because the lectures don't fully prepare you for the exams and quizzes in my opinion. But it is an easy class.
Super sweet and she really cares about her class. The only thing is that participation really matters, it's super easy to do well if you attend class.
Tiziana is super sweet and approachable! Her lectures are concise and simple to understand! Very reasonable amount of hw and tests were always based on what we constantly went over in class, so very easy! Final was fun and very simple! Overall, she helped me learn a lot and grow a love for the language! TAKE HER CLASS!
Tiziana is super sweet and approachable! Her lectures are concise and simple to understand. She assigns a very reasonable amount of homework! Professor Borromeo is a kind woman and clearly passionate about teaching but this class was just not it! She assigns multiple projects (individual/group) and her feedback on any work you turn in does not help you improve at all. You learn more from reading the textbook than her presentations. Would not take her class to fulfill the GE requirement.
Grading criteria was unclear, often went on tangents in Italian and expected beginner students to understand, quizzes were strangly formatted, poor feedback on projects, and the structure of the course was subpar.
She has a serious issue with organization to the point where nearly every single day students would come to class complaining. Her documents are inconsistent, the websites/textbooks she uses are chaotic and don't function half the time... etc. Additionally, she literally never goes over pronunciation and just kinda expects students to know it???
I think Tiziana does a good job of presenting the material in an approachable way, and she's always been friendly and quick to answer questions. I am not a huge fan of the online homework/ebook that is required, due to the price and the general sluggishness of the program (cengage). The learning software can often be a pain to use. =
Carla made Italian a fun language to learn. I took her Fall 2018, 4 quizzes (none dropped), 3 projects, online and book homework to go over in class, had one partner project, and our final was a written project. Easy to approach and ask questions to and she makes the language easy to understand. If you get the chance to take Ital1 with her, do it!
Carla is really friendly and easygoing. She makes the class fun and easy to understand. She'll tend to go in Italian rants from time to time but she'll explain things and don't be afraid to ask. There was two group projects, and one was part of the final. The class is not hard as long as you pay attention and she'll drop the lowest of 5 quizzes.
Carla is super chill and helpful! Pretty easy class as long as you do your work and pay attention
Very clear to understand and wants students to do well.
Love her! She makes class fun and interesting and she cares enough to learn more about her students. She welcomes questions and prepares the class well for the quizzes/tests. She made Italian fun, which made it easy to learn!
I loved having her as a teacher! She makes sure students are prepared for quizzes and tests, goes over exceptions and important things that you should pay attention to. She is funny and sweet, i enjoyed coming to class. She doesnt give that much homework and explains material well.
I found De Simone to be very nice and extremely helpful. The class was pretty straight-forward and she provided study guides for each quiz/test (and gave us a hint before each pop quiz!). I would highly recommend her.
She's great. She will warn you before those pop quizzes, and she is very flexible with due dates. A very kind professor, though she forgets to mention some aspects sometimes.
Every time I take Italian, I try to get into Tiziana's class! I had her for Italian 1 and she inspired me to go to Italy. She always "warns" you to study for a pop quiz and she will help you if you don't understand. It is because of her I might decide to major in Italian. She is quiet and her English is rough but she tells subtle funny jokes.
I've had her for 2 quarter, and I absolutely love her teaching style. She is very helpful. Makes the subject so much fun. Doesn't give a lot of homework, but the bit she give you must do. Pop-Quizzes and Quizzes are easy and she prepares you well. You also have 2 short compositions (100 words each), one midterm, and a final. Definitely Recommend.
I would love to have Carla again! I had her in Ital1 and am continuing on through 6 and really hoping I will be in her class again at some point. She's adorable, sweet, funny and incredibly helpful in the subject
Seriously best teacher in the department! Makes the class easy, and very fun. Does not give too much homework. very helpful, does a great job explaining hard material. She has a great sense of humor, makes you laugh every single class. The book is very easy. midterm & final, 2 compositions, and quizzes. Hands out study guides which help a lot.
Carla is so nice! She was the best Italian teacher I could hope for. I would love to have her again. Super helpful and very sweet. Goes above and beyond.
She is the best Italian teacher I've ever had(and the first as well)! Makes the class challenging but fun and is not very strict when it comes to homework. She is very happy and enjoyable!
she is so adorable & has the coolest accent. she had to leave mid-quarter to have a baby, but for the time she was there, very helpful and a good teacher!
Carla is great. She left mid-quarter to have a baby, but in the few weeks she was with our class everyone loved her (and talked about how much we missed her weeks after she was gone). Very sweet, really wants you to learn the language and doesn't make you feel stupid about it.
