Professor Camilla Fiorina is super kind and considerate. She really cares about you understanding and learning the language and is a very fair grader. I am glad I was able to have her as my professor for freshman year.
Professor Borromeo is a kind woman and clearly passionate about teaching but this class was just not it! She assigns multiple projects (individual/group) and her feedback on any work you turn in does not help you improve at all. You learn more from reading the textbook than her presentations. Would not take her class to fulfill the GE requirement.
Grading criteria was unclear, often went on tangents in Italian and expected beginner students to understand, quizzes were strangly formatted, poor feedback on projects, and the structure of the course was subpar.
She has a serious issue with organization to the point where nearly every single day students would come to class complaining. Her documents are inconsistent, the websites/textbooks she uses are chaotic and don't function half the time... etc. Additionally, she literally never goes over pronunciation and just kinda expects students to know it???
Professor Fiornia cares about her students and will help you succeed in class. She asks a lot of questions about the material so study up beforehand. She's a great professor to learn Italian with!
Hands down one of my favorite professors! Prof Fiorina makes learning a new language super fun. Homework and quizzes are easy to complete if you pay attention and participate during class. She is patient, funny, and a very lenient grader. 10/10 recommend!!
Prof Fiorina is great! The class is very fast paced, a new topic every day. But keep up, do a little bit each day and you'll be okay. The professor is very sweet, encouraging, enthusiastic just such great energy in class. She is a very generous grader too :)
Camilla is so kind and has such passion for the Italian language. The class I took was an online hybrid so there was a decent amount of online homework. We also had compositions and quizzes due basically every other week. No midterm and an oral final combined with a written project. Definitely requires work, but 100% worth it.
Definitely reccomend to take her Ital. classes. She is very understanding and will always work with you if she can. So email her. Participation matters greatly and level of difficulty is super easy for Ital. 1 and 2.
I loved taking Italian 101 with this professor. She is so sweet and really sets you up for success. Participate in class and it will make it more interesting and useful for you. Just make sure to keep up with the short readings she assigns so you can participate.
Very sweet lady. Only homework is online and you dont even really have to do it right or on time for full credit. Projects are simple and very easy, same w final proj. Quizzes require memorization, but I recommend Quizlet 2 days before the quiz for an A. One time I had 100 terms the night before and pulled an A-, and I hadnt been going to class.
Best prof ever. You don't have to do any of the homework besides the ILrn. Projects are super easy. You CAN do the bare minimum for assignments and still get an A. I'd watch all these try hards write so much for their projects and id do the bare min and I'd get the same or better. Just fr memorize everything for the tests.
Carla made Italian a fun language to learn. I took her Fall 2018, 4 quizzes (none dropped), 3 projects, online and book homework to go over in class, had one partner project, and our final was a written project. Easy to approach and ask questions to and she makes the language easy to understand. If you get the chance to take Ital1 with her, do it!
Extremely kind and very helpful. She is a fair grader and explains things very clearly. She is also very understanding and flexible. Book is pricey but it's used for all 3 quarters of Italian. I highly recommend her. She gives you fair warning before pop quizzes and goes over the practice exam before the actual exam.
Carla is really friendly and easygoing. She makes the class fun and easy to understand. She'll tend to go in Italian rants from time to time but she'll explain things and don't be afraid to ask. There was two group projects, and one was part of the final. The class is not hard as long as you pay attention and she'll drop the lowest of 5 quizzes.
Carla is super chill and helpful! Pretty easy class as long as you do your work and pay attention
Professor Fiorina is nice and not the type of language professor who expects you to only talk to her in Italian, so she was very approachable for questions. The textbook is pretty expensive, but it covers ITAL1-ITAL3 so if you are planning to take all of those I guess it is worth the price. Make sure to do homework because we go over it in class.
Fiorina is adorable and lectures at a very slow pace catering towards how well her students are understanding. She will answer any question no matter how basic. her grading is fair and she makes sure to prep you very well for all the exams and gives warning for pop quizzes. love her and would definitely take more of her classes.
Love her! She makes class fun and interesting and she cares enough to learn more about her students. She welcomes questions and prepares the class well for the quizzes/tests. She made Italian fun, which made it easy to learn!
I loved having her as a teacher! She makes sure students are prepared for quizzes and tests, goes over exceptions and important things that you should pay attention to. She is funny and sweet, i enjoyed coming to class. She doesnt give that much homework and explains material well.
Professoressa is a sweet lady! If you want to do well, follow the daily agenda she has and review the material; it'll be obvious during participation in class if you're behind. Attendance is a must because it counts toward your grade, and because of pop quizzes.
She was such a sweet lady, and so helpful for beginners learning Italian. Her tests and quizzes were easy, and she took efforts to make everyone feel included and help people be successful! Going to class is necessary, but the good news is that the textbook is the same for Italian 1-3!!!
So sweet and adorable and she really wants her students to do well! Quizzes are easy and she tells you exactly what to review, hints very hard at when the pop quizzes will be. She is always willing to help with anything and will go over your composition if you ask. 1 midterm, 2 compositions, 5 quizzes and 5 pop quizzes. Easy A if you try.
AMAZING teacher. Very organized and well prepared for every class. Quizzes and tests are easy if you attend class regularly or understand the material. Easy A if you try, otherwise B is not hard. Camilla is very nice, good looking and helpful.
