This class is really not difficult, but his homework is really not good. There were a lot of questions where the answers were wrong and I was very distressed at the time. And he still needs to answer questions in his section. This is not high school.

This class is very manageable. Lectures and sections are optional and the notes are posted online, so missing class is completely fine. Homework and projects are allowed unlimited attempts and are pretty easy. What will determine your grade are the 4 exams. If you study 1-2 hours for each one, an A in this class should be achievable.

I took ECON 1 for GE as a physics major who suck at social sciences, so take it with a grain of salt. His course is easy to do well, his explanations and lectures are somewhat confusing (for me, at least) but it all made sense after some self studying. Homework(RQ & Projects) are simple and on point. Solid choice. Note: Highest score is A (93-100)

The lectures weren't the best but attendance is not mandatory and the slides are always posted, along with study guides and exam practice. The assignments are easy and straightforward, with the lowest RQ, exam and project being dropped. Definitely had to study for exams but it was all stuff from the reviews and lectures.

Great at explaining concepts in a way that students who aren't naturally economically inclined(?) can easily understand. Exams aren't lightwork but they're fair. I barely went to class and did fine. Slides can get messy but overall they're pretty useful. Easy class yet still learned some good stuff. Lowest exam gets dropped! Great prof.

Lectures and sections don't have required attendance. As long as you memorize the information on the study guide and do practice problems, you'll be fine. Weekly quizzes and a project with unlimited attempts. 4 exams, not cumulative. 15 questions on tests so missing one or two questions does drop you quick. Lowest quiz, project, and exam dropped.

Homework and Projects helped you learn the material, and tests felt very reflective of what was covered in the class.

Very easy class even for non-majors. Not sure why people are so scared of it. Lowest exam, lowest two RQs, and lowest project are dropped. Lot of potential to get an A. I'm not sure how helpful the textbook is because I did not read it. If you put in any work you will get an A.

This class was super straightforward and everything is outlined in the syllabus. The lectures slides are also posted on canvas so attendance is not required (even at sections)- though Professor Benzarti does a good job explaining the concepts. He seems like a nice guy and obviously knows a lot about the subject.

Honestly one of the best professors I have ever had at UCSB. He really knows what he is talking about and explains things in an extremely clear way. The tests are not "tricky" by any means and grading is extremely fair. He drops several of the lowest grades and you can just tell he wants every single student to succeed. 100% would recommend.

Although Professor Benzarti was filling in for a different prof. during the spring 23' quarter, he did a good job explaining concepts. In addition, it's obvious he cares for his students and shows empathy. These are qualities that I respect and I feel fortunate to have had Prof. Benzarti for two courses at UCSB. Overall, Prof. Benzarti is legit.

Came on as a replacement for another professor. Only two tests, midterm and final, both were written exams with no math. Conceptual teacher and uses math only for theoretical background. 10000% would take him again. 10/10 professor!

His lectures were so helpful. Loved the guy, his tests were alright I passed them all for not doing much. The excel projects were helpful for tests when you understand what to do. He drops the lowest one for both. Loved the class.

Easy to understand lectures. One hour of homework a week on average. Super easy grading scale, ~5 lowest assignments get dropped. Exams were all multiple choice and similar to practice exams.

He is a good professor but does not help you during office hours. Instead he rushes you to ask your questions. This made me afraid of going back to his office hours. Therefore if you have any questions use CLAS

He is smart and cool. This class was very easy. Test questions were simple. Excel projects were straightforward and taught worthwhile features of Excel. He covers everything during lectures. His notes and practice problems were easily accessible. Homework on Achieve is very forgiving and quite easy. Very forgiving grading policies. No essays.

Econ1 was a straightforward class with Benzarti. He makes it clear at the start of the year that lectures are not required, but you should go if you tend to do better in a lecture setting rather than just reading the material yourself. Contacting Benzarti directly is very difficult, but the TAs provide just about anything you could require.

ECON10A . Benzarti Y C 2 Years Ago

We all love Prof. Benzarti!!!!!!! To survive, do the following: 1. Watch lectures; do not procrastinate 2. Start at least two days ahead of midterms and start grinding all old exams. Time yourself. Make sure to understand concepts, not just the formulas/shortcuts. 3. The class starts getting fast-paced and difficult after midterm 1, be prepared.

Benzarti was super fair with his grading. As long as you either attend his lectures or watch Hartmann's lectures (posted on gs) you should understand the content. Make sure to do all the problem sets and the practice midterms too; they'll really help when you take the midterms and final. Benzarti is very fair with his content, and an A is doable.

I am glad to take Prof Benzartis 10A. His class is straightforward and the tests are fair. Even if you mess up with one of the midterm, you will still be fine if you ace the Final.

ECON 10A is a stressful course but Benzarti can make it easier for you. He will tell you which part will be on tests and which part is important. His lectures are better and clearer than Hartman's recorded. Also, if you want to get a high score, go to CLAS and get more practice. That will be really helpful.
