I love this professor! He makes things clear and chemistry not as boring as it could be! Tests are somewhat hard but if you study you should be fine. The curves were pretty big. I'm taking price again for chem 1b because he's great!
Dr. Price's lecture is very organized. He sent out emails about what you should prepare for class before every lecture and posted notes on gauchospace. An easy A, if you do your homework.
I took this class as a second year student and I can say that Price is arguably the best professor I've had at UCSB. The way he explains topics is clear, concise, and logical. His demonstrations are fun and he was always enthusiastic about teaching. However, his exams were quite difficult (though they were curved) and ALEKS was a bit much at times.
Price gives clear lectures with practice problems to reinforce the material. He truly cares about his students by holding numerous office hours and sending out emails before each class telling students how to prepare for lecture. Some questions on the exams can be quite tricky but there are many practice tests to help you prepare for the real deal. Awesome teacher!
Price is hella chill. Teaches clearly and if you study his old midterms and understand concepts you will do well. Cares for students, sends out long emails after each class with suggested problems. Personally I only did his old quizzes and midterms to study but he gives a lot of options. If I had to take more Chem I would have gotten price again.
Price gives very clear lectures and knows what he is doing. He funny, young, and pretty hot. Probably the easiest of all the gen chem professors. Although his lectures are very systematic, tests really require a true understanding on the material due to their wording. He curves, but only moderately. Take CLAS and you'll be fine.
He's hot which makes attending class easy. Class overall was difficult. Definitely need to spend everyday doing practice problems. When it comes to tests prepare to study a lot and still get a low grade unless you're super smart, of course.
Price is attractive, smart, and funny. Perfect way to learn chemistry!
His lectures are clear, concise and entertaining. He is very fair with grades and genuinely wants all of his students to succeed.
i love him.
Professor Price was definitely one of my favorite professors at UCSB. You can tell he really loved Chemistry through his lectures, and although his course was challenging for me, he definitely made coming to class worth it. He really wanted his students to succeed. Take advantage of office hours; he's really helpful. Great professor!
Professor Price is one of the best professors I've had. He sends emails letting the students know which book problems to do and what to read. He is approachable in office hours, and really cares! He also is a fantastic teacher. He really made me love chemistry. Wish he was teaching CHEM 1C. Study hard, do book problems and you'll do well.
Price is a good professor, he is organized nice..etc. BUT I feel like he goes over the easy concepts in class and the test are super challenging. I tried my hardest and still didn't do so great in the class. I say avoid him. Nice looking face and everything but don't take him...
Had Scott for Chem 1A/B. I came in knowing a little bit of chem (not AP), and got A+'s in both chem 1A and 1B. He really goes out of his way to make the concepts easy to understand, and before each midterm/final, hosts a review session just to make sure you do well. Do all the book problems, you'll definitely get at least an A- if you do.
Professor Price is probably one of the best teachers I have ever had. His enthusiasm for chemistry definitely keeps people interested. He is very helpful during office hours. He's a great guy, very nice and he cares about his students. Would definitely recommend him if you need to take chemistry.
Very good professor. Genuinely excited about teaching chemistry. Like, his enthusiasm made me want to go to lecture. Didn't study well and received a C, but that was my own fault. Huge curve really helped. Best chem professor, I think. He's also really hot. Really. Hot.
Excellent professor; the best teacher I've ever seen in an academic setting. He is funny and brilliant & extremely helpful. He sends tons of emails with prep & review questions, and emails his presentations in advance. You can see he genuinely cares about chemistry & wants his students to be as excited. Consider yourself very lucky if you get him.
Best chemistry professor i've ever had
Price is a great professor. His midterms and quizzes had some tricky questions, but their difficulty was balanced by the huge curve implemented at the end of the course. His lectures were always helpful for the homework and his lecturing style is conducive to note-taking. He is a good speaker and is well-prepared for lectures, highly recommended.
Price really wants his students to do their best and tries to make chemistry exciting/interesting. It's in your best interest to go to lecture- he has slides on Gauchospace, but writes on the whiteboard to accompany those slides. He sends out e-mails and follow-up problems to do. You must commit the time to understanding the concepts.
Tests are hard but the curve helps. Price genuinely cares for his students and tries his hardest to help them out. He gives good advice for studying for the class. Listen to him. He knows what he is talking about.
He is probably one of he nicest professors you will ever have. Really hard and challenging class, but take advantage of the emails he sends before lecture, they are very helpful. Do the book problems, take CLAS, go to office hours, make your time on ALEKS as efficient as possible, and an A is certainly possible. Study hard though!
Price was great at explaining concepts clearly. The tests were challenging and he expects a lot from his students. Overall I really enjoyed his class, he made chemistry fun and interesting and has his students' best interests in mind.
Such a great guy! He genuinely cares about his students and makes sure they do well. If you do everything in the email he sends out before every lecture, you're good to go. His midterms and final are definitely a battle to get through, but it's understandable. He is always ready to help you with your questions. It doesn't hurt he's amazing looking.
