This class was very chill and only met the first five weeks of the quarter. There wasn't too much teaching and a majority of the class time was spent making various cosmetic products. As long as you show up and do the experiments, it's an easy pass.

Just show up to class, do the assignments, and give a decent presentation and you will pass. Pass/No Pass isn't a grade option here but since 118 is, participation is the only requirement for success. I liked Professor Chada's technical writing slide decks and I will be repurposing them for the rest of my time at UCSB.

I have my own personal issues with junior lab and the way our groups are determined but that is a story for another time. Professor Chada introduced office hours for lab report review this year, which was greatly appreciated. 180A is such an important class for the chemical engineering curriculum, and I think he did a good job with our class.

I loved him, i had him for an INT class about making shampoo, conditioner, lip gloss, aloe vera, and many more. I thought the class would be more information than hands-on but he just gives a brief description of how these items are being made and lets us get to work!

Introduces Chem E concepts in a simple, understandable way. I adored this class. Biweekly homework (don't wait til last minute). and a final group project. No tests. Biweekly lab where you get to go through the process of making biodiesel. Guest speakers from Clorox. Overall, a great class. Always looked forward to lecture. Textbook not required.

Everyone should take a class with Chada if they have the chance. He is incredibly caring, an amazing teacher, and an all around awesome guy. He makes learning difficult concepts not only simple but also incredibly engaging. And we got to do an awesome lab. Take his courses!

Review #2 for Professor Chada! Separations was really interesting to me, and although I did poorly on the midterm, I think he understood that I felt my capabilities didn't match my test scores, and was very helpful and encouraging in the days leading up to the final. Be prepared to learn a lot of content in just 10 weeks.

Professor Squires is a legend of the department. Although this class was difficult at times due to time intervals between homework, so some due diligence was required to learn the material, both course exams were fair and suited to the class content. He is an excellent mentor in chemical engineering and cares so deeply for his students.

CHE5 is a very good introductory chemE course. You have a biweekly labs over the quarter when you make biodiesel and tie into topics learnt in class. Hws take some time but are very doable. Easy course, no final but final project.

Professor Chada is very nice. If you have no prior knowledge of the curriculum, make sure to read the textbook and go to office hours! When it comes to due dates make sure to turn them in on time because he is less lenient than other professors. As for the lab section, DON'T BE LATE or he will confront you about it.

Weekly group projects where you get to meet other intelligent people in the same major. Has great lectures and explains problem-solving strategies needed for homework. He is accessible outside of the classroom either during in-office hours or online (loves using nectir). Overall awesome professor, make sure you get to know him!

Professor Chada did a good job teaching our intro ChemE class. He knows the material well and is really accessible outside of class if you need help. He did a lot of practice problem with me before the exams and it helped me do much better in ChE 5. I appreciated him bringing us guest lecturers to learn more about the industry.

Dr. Chada is a really nice prof who wants you to learn the content well. He always keeps you updated about assignments as well as where the class is going. HW can be tough, but it's in groups. The midterms he gives you plenty of time, though they are not easy. Make sure to do some extra textbook problems. Positive guy, you can't go wrong with him.

Chada is super nice and really cares about setting up his students for their future. Video lectures are easy to understand and in meetings he goes through more example problems. Pretty much all group work. HW can be tough but Chada and TAs are accessible if you have questions. Midterm/Final is easy if you can do the problems from lectures/meetings.

The course is hard, but not with this professor. He explains things crystal clear and is available all the time outside class. Yes, He assigns more homework and projects than other professors, but these projects are hands-on. Being chemical engineering students, you already choose a challenging route. Why not make it more awarding by learning more?

Quite a bit of work for a 3 unit class. Everything is done in groups, so your homework and project groups matter a lot. He teaches the class a bit quickly, but covers a lot of interesting concepts that we'll use throughout our undergrad.

Assigned 3 to 4 times the amount of homework as other classes. Is very impatient while also very poor at explaining topics, which is a rough combination when you are trying to learn. Makes too many notation errors in his notes making them sometimes impossible to understand. Avoid this professor, it will help your understanding and your gpa.

Always strange, trivial grading rubric for homework and projects. You can not find any requirement in description of homework and projects but there would be a lot when you view your score on Gradescope.

Homework was not that difficult, but it really depends on your homework group since he assigns them. He goes fast sometimes in lecture but he posts his notes online, although it is difficult to read. The group project is ok, but again it depends on your group. Exams aren't bad if you do the practice problems he posted.

not much homeworks, straightforward tests. Tests are very similar to homework and his notes. he clearly knows the stuff and it is easy to tell what he wants us to focus on and really get out of the class. only problem is that his notes do get a little sloppy
