pretty easy! it is the second time for me to take his class, I really enjoy working with Jeremy.
For a class about games, it sure was a slog. Lectures were far too broad and unspecific. It seemed more like an archaeology class with a thin thread of games throughout. This was only his second time teaching it, so I'm optimistic the class will improve, particularly because he is very passionate about the subject, but maybe give it a few years.
I found ARTHI 6A to be fairly easy since I was interested in it. The sections have absolutely nothing to do with the lecture material, and very few grades come from section besides 1 paper and attendance. My TA was a nice grader so I got lucky with that.
I personally really enjoy his lecture! His a treasure! Test might be a little bit difficult, but this does not affect the fact that his an awesome, humorous and knowledgable professor!
Clear and interesting. Professor White is very helpful and nice. Do the readings.
Take this for an easy GE! He has 9% extra credit built in. There are online GS quizzes every week that are fairly easy, and you can find the answers in the reading. Otherwise, you don't really have to read. There's no midterm and the final is super easy. The essay is graded kind of hard though.
White was really nice but that's about it. His quizzes were mostly lecture based (and only one attempt) but his lectures were sooo hard to pay attention to. The final essay was difficult to write and had unclear instructions. There is just too much material in this course.
His lecture slides are just pictures so you have to go to lecture. The online quizzes are easy and 40% of your grade is just showing up to section and lecture and the class has 9% of extra credit built in so its an easy A. Final questions were reused quiz questions and questions he posted online. Easy GE.
Make sure you go to lecture bc his slides only have pictures on them so if you don't go to lecture you will have no idea what's going on. Even if you do go he is quite boring as a lecturer and lectures are hard to follow and confusing. 4 online quizzes, iclicker, a TON of readings, 8 page paper, and final- overall would not really recommend tbh
Dr. White is a decent lecturer. The material in 6A is rather dry, but White's grading criteria make it very easy to pass or ace the course. One paper, multiple online quizzes based off of pdf readings, mandatory lecture and sections, and an incredibly easy final exam.
first of all, he mentioned once at the beginning of the quarter that he *might* grade iclickers based on accuracy or *maybe* just attendance, then said nothing else about it and proceeded to grade them off accuracy. he is a very monotone lecturer, it is extremely difficult to pay attention in class but you will regret not taking notes, as I did.
His lectures are so boring so it makes it so hard to keep up. I literally would sit through class wondering what was going on. I wish he would be more specific for what's important because today is the final and I still have no idea. Plus! He would put barely any words on the slides. 8pg paper was difficult too, bc it was unclear how to write one!!
This is the hardest class I have ever taken and I am an econ major I honestly have no idea what is going on and lectures are really monotone and boring I'm sorry and also he is a great guy and very passionate but oh my god I am so confused what is going on? when is BCE?
He is very lecture heavy and the slides he posted are mostly pictures. But the lectures are not very interesting to follow unless you are into art history. Do not recommend for GE.
Very boring lectures unless architecture is your thing. Slides have little text so you have to take a lot of notes. Generous grading, 4 online quizzes, 1 8pg paper (kind of challenging but manageable)1 final. Was able to keep my grade up until the final since I relied on the quizzes being opennote. Very nice & passionate professor just not my thing
Very architecture based. I enjoyed his lectures as he's knowledgeable and engaging, but there are hardly any words on his slides so you have to take meticulous notes. Iclicker questions based on readings/lecture. Dense readings. Fairly easy quizzes even if you skim. The paper is intimidating at first, but also manageable. Graded mainly by TAs.
Very dry lectures. Professor is very knowledgeable and passionate, but unbelievably monotone and boring. Wouldn't recommend this class. However if you love reading about architecture and the history of art through different countries- this is the class for you. He's actually quite generous his grading scale, but very risky...
Great class, even better professor. He engages the whole lecture hall, makes sure everyone understands, and makes the grading very clear. Easy A. One decently long paper, midterm was ridiculously easy, w the final being only a little longer. Will take classes with professor White again (:
The subject was fairly interesting but always seemed very long, could have been that it was a 9:30 am and lights were always dimmed. The readings were always very long but interesting anyway. Section was pretty easy, just show up to complete the weekly assignment and you pass. Midterm, one Chicago Style Paper, and a Final. Good professor overall.
Relatively interesting class and subject matter. Lectures are long and were pretty dry for the most part. He posts slides but the slides are mostly pictures so attending class to hear his descriptions/lessons is mandatory to do well. weekly sections with short assignments about weekly reading--not too bad. One midterm, one paper and a final!
This guy is incredibly knowledgable on the subject. He is an excellent teacher and does a great job explaining important topics. This is a very conceptual course and White will make you think more than you would like. Tests are open book and are not too difficult.
Amazing teacher. Super interesting, very passionate about his subject, and very willing to help you out or just talk to you. His lectures are great! Go to class, you'll fail otherwise. He's very dry humor. He asks you to think! Tests are open book, open note, so it's more about understanding the material and thinking about it.
Pretty difficult class. You can tell he loves what he does and he knows a lot, but he teaches like we already know the concepts, and can be unclear. Lectures are important but hard to follow. Tests are open book but EXTREMELY hard. Definitely not my favorite class, he's nice though.
Very easy class, as long as you attend. Type notes and write every word down. Laptops, books, and notes are allowed on tests.
