Lab reports will take u hours to do. How well u do in this class will depend on how constructive and nice ur TA is. U will not see pazos and her study guide is just a list of topics where she won't even include everything on the final so u will waste space on ur index card. Remember the post and pre lab questions. She will curve the grades down.
TBH not as bad as I thought it would be. The final was not that hard, you just have to understand basic chemistry topics and pay attention to detail. Pre- and post-labs were a pain, but as long as you read the critique you TA gives you and fix your future reports, it's pretty easy to score well. Never saw Pazos irl.
yk how some profs really want the best for you and some just dont really care, she is neither and she genuinely wants the worst for you. went into the final with a 98, got a 75% and it dropped me to a low a- and now im destined for a b. you get a note card for the final but lowkirik just like right out every lab calculation you did
A good TA decides how success you are.
Canon event prof
The most idiosyncratic professor in all of UCSB. She prohibits using graphing calculators during the final (who knows why), fails to explain how to do most tasks in lab reports, and grades as if you should've always known the answer to everything. Insufferable.
Class requires so much effort for just 2.5 units and just to be down curved. She has no compassion.
Too much assignments
She curves down and makes TA's take off points of assignments if the class average is too high. One time the TA told us to try on an assignment because the in the one he was talking about it was actually possible to get full credit if you got it all right. We were all excited for that. Also from how the TAs talked about her she was not nice.
avoid her. haha you have no choice
yeah you're cooked 🤣 be prepared to be taught nothing x10
I initially had an A at end of class, and my grade was curved down to a B+. She described this act as fitting what the other grades should be (which was around a 'B' average apparently). The lab material was NOT difficult at all, in fact it was all review from chem 1a and 1b. There was literally no reason to curve down my grade.
Incompetent, terrible labs, rounded grades down, should be fired
evil class, evil professor. unfortunate if you have to take the class with her, it will be miserable, so much time is wasted doing menial tasks that take hours and hours every week all for 2.5 units. TA's have to grade super harsh because of her saying they have to. final "study guide" related nothing with the final. is egotistical. just terrible.
Genuinely the worst professor at the school. Read her reviews under Texas Rio Grande since most are from UCSB students. Either gives an impossible final or curves down to meet the B+ average she made up. Doesn't even teach the lessons and hardly communicates with TAs and students. Take the class over the summer if you can bc she will ruin you gpa.
She is my #1 opp. The lab itself isn't really that hard it just depends on your TA. I got lucky with my TAs for 2AL and 2BL and both were pretty chill. She will curve your grade down to reach her quota of A's and B's. Her finals are also stupid and pretty much don't cover any content we did in the lab.
