Freund is a great professor. Physics is not my strong suit, but his comedic character and clear lectures made it much more enjoyable. He may jump around topics sometimes, but covers all the material fairly well. WORK ON the practice tests. He truly cares for all of his students and if you put in the effort, hell go it of his way to help you.
such a funny teacher and he's one of the younger ones so students like him even more. I thought his lectures were upbeat and easy to pay attention in because of how he is.
Freund is super into physics and honestly makes the class bearable. I wish I could've taken him for the first two physics. He is probably my favorite professor over the past 3 years.
He's a beautiful man inside and out. Makes physics really easy to understand and actually interesting. Go to class and make use of his practice tests! It's not too hard to get an A. His lectures were the highlight of my classes.
By far the best physics professor I've had at UCSB. Very clear and gives a lot (relative to the other physics professors I've had) of example problems in class which greatly helped me on homework and exams.
Really the best physics prof

Ernest is an awesome teacher! I hated physics 6a, but he made the last two classes in the series bearable. he has fun demos and a fun guy to talk to outside of class. highly reccomended, although he won't be in sb anymore, which sucks.
He is a straight forward lecturer. He makes class more fun by bringing in demos. His tests are fair and clear. He's not so bad to look at either. :-)
I love Freund. His exams are purely based on the weekly quizzes. As long as you memorize how to do those specific questions, you can basically score 100% on every exam. Attendance isn't mandatory, so I stopped going halfway through the quarter because his lectures are a little boring. But, he tries his best to joke and make them interesting.
Given the choice between him and Geller, I'd choose Freund in a heartbeat. He's super funny and relatable, and he explains things well. His test and quiz questions are also super basic Your grade is only based on the midterms, final, and quizzes. Not many practice materials besides practice midterms/finals and quizzes
bro he graded harder than geller this quarter
Freund is amazing and his lectures are very engaging. If you do the practice questions you will be fine on the exams. There are a lot of wee little quizzes for homework but they are not too bad. The demonstrations are so fun and I like how he also cannot stand how long lectures are.
The lectures are decent, but what makes Freund such a great professor is how clear and straightforward the course structure is. The practice problems for each module are nearly identical to the quiz and exam problems, and there are notes/videos on Canvas for each lecture topic.
Freund is the best physics prof. Physics lectures can get boring, but he does his best to keep everyone's attention by cracking jokes and doing demonstrations. His exams are easy, because they're like his homework quizzes and practice tests. He answers questions on his discussion forums frequently and whenever students have questions. Nice guy.
It's literally a Christmas miracle I passed this class I don't know how this happened. Don't get me wrong this man is my day 1 opp, but he did something magical to his curve to get me to pass. I could never make sense of what he was trying to say/teach, he would never produce a coherent thought or sentence. Bro has the worst ADHD I've ever seen
Freund is a sweetie pie and you can tell he cares but he also is super frantic and anxious and seems to struggle getting his ideas out in an understandable way. Chiller though
TLDR: Take Geller physics for easy A. When I got to UCSB, I was clueless about physics. Everyone else discussed energy while I was still learning kinematics. When I got one module, my peers were light-years ahead. I wanted to cry into my textbooks, but it was this demon called Achieve. All my friends in 6A with Geller had it easier than me. :(
He made quizzes and tests worth 50% each. Daily quizzes were only one try each, and became increasingly difficult. Practice quizzes did not reflect quizzes. Lecture videos are very disorganized and confusing. I haven't learned a thing.
Freund is the GOAT. The exams are exactly like the practice ones posted online so it is very easy to score high (test averages for 6C were in the 90s). Attendance isn't mandatory since videos are posted on Canvas, but I would recommend going as he is pretty entertaining. Make sure to go to the last class of 6C!
Freund is a very good professor, there's demos each class, everything he mention is important and so it is crucial to learn how to take notes in his class. The assignments are hard but he only assigns a few for each modules. He would mumbles sometimes but it is not a big problem as he tries to cover all the materials
I did not like his lectures at all. He is all over the place and made it hard to learn. I would recommend watching his videos instead as they are much easier to gain an understanding from. I absolutely would not take him again if there was a better option.
i love freund. i wish he was the professor for all of my classes. his lectures are funny and engaging. his tests are fair and homework is manageable. he has recorded lectures on the topics if you miss them and he works through practice problems to help you understand better. 11/10 would take for every physics course
He's a funny guy and a real G.
