Jeremy lied to me. On the first lecture I admitted my weakness in artistry to him, and he reassured me that drawing skills were not needed. Jerry betrayed my trust when the first assignment was largely drawing based. I felt humiliated and cheated.I didn't sign up for a drawing class. AND GET THIS. the 2nd project was also DRAWING. I. CAN'T. DRAW -E
For only attending a handful of lectures this class was pretty easy to pass! Lecture quizzes are held in section so beware of that but the projects were fairly easy and fun! The class is a bit boring but it's an easy GE!
3 essays, 3 quizzes, and a final. All online but were difficult (cheating won't help). Quizzes mostly based off readings which there's a lot of and they're BORING. Lecture was equally boring but helped a bit on the quizzes. I'd take again and focus on the readings more.
Jerry is a fantastic professor. This is the third time I've taken one of his classes. I've taken big online classes with him as well but this class is a small seminar-style class. In either environment he's been a great lecturer and is very personable and helpful in smaller class settings.
Most ARTHI classes are usually a little too much work for them being 4 unit classes but Jeremy is a great professor and the class was often boring but sometimes interesting. I think your TA makes or breaks your grade tbh
its a lot of work but the professor lets you submit work multiple times for a better grade. grades quick so you don't need to wait until last minute and office hours are helpful
Jeremy is very knowledgeable and clearly put a lot of effort into designing this course. It was pretty abstract and dull, but that's personal opinion. Some bits were interesting and I appreciate his enthusiasm. Section was annoying but grading on quizzes and essays was pretty easy. I never felt bogged down with work, but definitely pay attention.
was able to get an A in class even though I only attended two lectures. Two fun essays with a lot of room for creativity and a quiz each week that was take home. Just look through the slides or the reading and you'd get at least 80% of it right. The slides he has barely has any words on them though just pictures so you had to decipher it yourself.
Professor White was really engaging with his lectures. He always brought students up to the front of class to demonstrate, and the class becomes really relevant towards the end. He posts the slides after class, but there is minimal text on them, mostly information comes from the mouth, so make sure to go to lecture.
Lectures were interesting but very little on slides so you'd have to pay attention or you miss important info, Jeremy took the time to learn everyone's name and talked to us before class so i appreciated that, easy to approach when you have issues, made difficult concepts easy to understand,
ARTHI 136C was amazing with Prof White! In-class group assignments were a great way to apply textbook to real life scenarios and the lectures were very interesting. Relatively easy if you do the readings and pay attention in class
His lectures are interesting but sometimes it is easy to zone out. His class was relatively easy if you pay attention to lectures and do the readings. Overall an interesting and not too stressful class if you just keep up with the assignments. Everything is outlined very well in the beginning of the quarter.
I'm a political science major who loved this class. Jeremey White is clearly talented and knows his stuff. Not only, but he brings a unique perspective and share so many unique and diverse architectures. I never though I'd learn so much from an art history class! I would say if you pay attention, you'll be fine.
I took the class just to get GE's out of the way and it didn't sound very interesting but professor White's passion for and presentation of the materials made the class super interesting.
Took this class only for a GE. Wouldn't suggest it. A lot of reading, which is pretty dry unless you truly enjoy architecture. Lectures are scattered, confusing and often go on tangents that don't help. Prof is very kind and funny but not the best teacher. There's an extensive paper which you aren't fully prepared for, but tests are straightforward
Professor White is nice, but his class needs a lot of work. iclickers required, but points will be deducted if you answer some of them wrong. There's a 2000word essay and the course does not satisfy writing. Readings are dry and has almost nothing to do with lecture, but tests have detail questions of reading.
During a panicked pass time, I found the first writing GE I could, ARTHI 6J. Little did I know I would be taking one of the most well taught and valuable classes, with an exceptional instructor. Professor White is extremely knowledgeable and an overall fun person to talk to. Tests had some obscure questions, but nonetheless, excellent professor
Prof. White is an awesome guy who really knows his stuff about architecture, and can be quite funny with a dry sarcastic humor. Hes also very understanding, caring, and grades fairly. This seminar was fun despite the dry reading material and presentation project. I learned a lot about house museums; from their history, to their function. 10/10.
I found ARTHI 6A to be fairly easy since I was interested in it. The sections have absolutely nothing to do with the lecture material, and very few grades come from section besides 1 paper and attendance. My TA was a nice grader so I got lucky with that.
I personally really enjoy his lecture! His a treasure! Test might be a little bit difficult, but this does not affect the fact that his an awesome, humorous and knowledgable professor!
Clear and interesting. Professor White is very helpful and nice. Do the readings.
Take this for an easy GE! He has 9% extra credit built in. There are online GS quizzes every week that are fairly easy, and you can find the answers in the reading. Otherwise, you don't really have to read. There's no midterm and the final is super easy. The essay is graded kind of hard though.
White was really nice but that's about it. His quizzes were mostly lecture based (and only one attempt) but his lectures were sooo hard to pay attention to. The final essay was difficult to write and had unclear instructions. There is just too much material in this course.
His lecture slides are just pictures so you have to go to lecture. The online quizzes are easy and 40% of your grade is just showing up to section and lecture and the class has 9% of extra credit built in so its an easy A. Final questions were reused quiz questions and questions he posted online. Easy GE.
