Professor Nikityn made my first quarter genuinely enjoyable, something I never thought I'd say about a writing class. He creates a very welcoming and supportive environment, which was especially meaningful to me as a first-generation college student. He explains assignments clearly and grading is very easy to follow. Highly recommend!!

Such an amazing professor omg actually was the goat, clear/easy assignments and lectures, and very helpful in office hours! He treats you almost like a friend and if I could I would take all my writing courses with him!!!! Take writing 2 with him and go to his office hours he's so chill and sweet

My GOAT writ2 teacher. Would definitely take again this course. He is like a friend instead of a teacher in office hour. If you want to take writ2, just take his course since it would make life much easier.

Best professor EVER. Don't take anyone else for Writ2!! Actually made me enjoy and feel confident in my writing. Made the 1hr 50min lectures go by quick. Very funny and caring, wants you to succeed. As long as you do all the assignments and miss no more than 2 classes, you'll get an A. I love Dave and I'm going to miss him real talk. TAKE HIS CLASS

Awesome professor! He does specs grading, which is SO nice. All assignments are graded based on completion and class attendance. He provides clear and constructive feedback and is supportive and accessible outside of class. There are no sections, and he ended class early (1hr 50 min class that ended up being 1hr 30 max.

I've never written a RMP before but I feel like I HAVE to for Dave. I don't know what else to say other than it is so clear he was meant to teach. All the reviews are spot on; best professor ever.

Best professor ever. If he's an option please take him. Made writing enjoyable. Grading is based on just making sure u completed all the requirements rather than how advance of a writer you are. Would take again. Very flexible.

Genuinely the best professor I have ever had at UCSB. This class made me consider a minor/double major in writing. If you get his class, you are very lucky; he is so caring, smart, funny, and understands students better than any professor I've had. Can't recommend enough.

I took this mandatory WRIT2 class along with 2 other GEs that I didn't need, and WRIT2 with Dave was my favorite class! He is very forgiving, explains the content and assignments very thoroughly, and he truly cares about your writing skills. He is funny, light-hearted, and is teaching because he wants to make us better students. Take this class!!!

GIVE THIS MAN A RAISE. I honestly never had a writing teacher unlike Nikityn. He cares about your writing. He actually listens to you. If you see this guy available for WRIT 2, TAKE IT IMMEDIATELY.

Had Dave for my first class in UCSB and I wouldn't have it any other way. Heavily improved my writing skills and was an extremely fun, nice, and caring people on campus. If I had the opportunity to take it again, I'd take him regardless of the fact it was an 8am. Extremely thoughtful and amazing professor who grades on content. Love Dave man

Amazing professor! Although classes are 1.5 hours long, time flew and most of the time would end early. He gives great feedback on your writing that will help with revisions and improvement as a writer. If you're going to take WRIT 2 it has to be with Dave! There is a lot of writing, but he cares mostly about the content rather than word count.

DON'T MAKE THIS MISTAKE!! DO NOT TAKE WRIT 2 unless it's with prof Dave, cs he's honestly the best writing professor I've had till date. His lectures are mandatory and attendance is taken but you'll enjoy them. He actually cares about his students' writing and improving it more than the course assignments. Just a chill guy ong, very approachable.

Such a great professor for my Writing A2 GE requirement. All of his assignments are based on completion and your reflection at the end of the quarter basically determines what grade you are going to get/deserve. As long as you show up to most of his class days and submit the work that is required in a timely manner, you will do just fine.

Dave is AMAZING! He is such a caring professor and is super clear in his course expectations. Grading is done by grade "clusters" meaning if you meet all of the requirements, you will receive an A grade (this means assignments are graded by completion instead of letter grades). Take this class (or any with Dave) if you can!!! I'm so happy I did!
