She was extremely rude and condescending to me in lab 3L. Is such a harsh grader and genuinely has no empathy for anyone.
i asked my lab TA if i could make up lab/ get online data so that i could take my bio exam due a conflicting schedule, and she said YES, but to ask pazos first. so i did, and she basically told me that it was my fault for making my schedule like that and that i could not skip lab. so i took the L on bio and got a 0 on that bc of lab. bruh.
So incredibly unprofessional. makes ta's grade down and harder, but doesn't give a rubric or examples of how it should be done, just expects students to "know better". Final is a mix of Chem 1a and 1b, but gives no resources. no lecture notes, no practice tests, no review sessions. Final is based on Chem 1a and 1b, even though the course isn't???
Had Pazos for Chem 2AL/BL. She is a complete joke of a professor. Rude, condescending, and doesn't care for her students AT ALL. Besides the down curve, the whole 2BL class was unnecessarily hard because TAs were forced to take points away arbitrarily to keep averages lower. I truly don't understand why this woman is so obsessed with her average.
This class is ridiculous. She's chungus. I actually don't understand why she's still here ... ucsb needs to do better. This is literally GEN CHEM it is not that deep at all. She should go to organic chemistry where being crazy would make sense. Sorry to everyone that has to take lab, it doesn't get better after AL either.
i don't know who hurt her, but she is a hateful and pathetic excuse for a chem professor. she genuinely wants her students to fail, avoid her at all costs.
Worst professor ever, take her if you hate yourself. The TAs are instructed by her to grade you down and not give you points even if your lab reports are perfect, confirmed by the TAs. She gave an absolutely diabolical final for 2AL and 2BL back to back, literally straight questions about random things that she probably generated from ChatGPT.
Don't know why she is a “professor” if she hates her students and wishes the worst on them. Doesn't give any material to study for the final, and gives out the topic list the day before, when she had weeks to let students know so they could actually study! She is the most pathetic “professor” I have ever seen. I don't know how she still has a job.
Terrible class structured by a terrible professor.
Think of the worst possible thing and double it, and that is pazos
genuinely the worst class i've had in college. menial tasks that are worthless that take up hours and hours + a long + strict lab report + a final that is pointless and goofy (work not from the course corresponding to it) + weirdly hard and just way too much work. She doesnt let you have excuses, but she can have as many as she wants. egotistical.
About the final for 2BL, she put questions from 2AL on the final, which was never mentioned in her study guide. The final questions that she put on the final were completely random, and no matter going over every lab and the questions associated, she made that test difficult. There's no reason for all of that. Class average was 50 for the final.
1 star since zero stars is not an option. Tough grader and purposefully wants to fail students. Pre-labs and post-labs took an insanely long amount of time. My TA stated that she could get in trouble for giving students good grades.
Unclear expectations and lazy teaching covered up by projecting on students.
You have to copy the lab procedures word for word in your lab notebook. Incredibly condescending and annoying emails- doesn't seem to care about students' wellbeing or grades. You're in the lab for all 4 hours, and you do hours of work outside of lab each week (for a 2.5-unit class!). Final is so hard, and there's not enough time to complete it.
TBH not as bad as I thought it would be. The final was not that hard, you just have to understand basic chemistry topics and pay attention to detail. Pre- and post-labs were a pain, but as long as you read the critique you TA gives you and fix your future reports, it's pretty easy to score well. Never saw Pazos irl.
yk how some profs really want the best for you and some just dont really care, she is neither and she genuinely wants the worst for you. went into the final with a 98, got a 75% and it dropped me to a low a- and now im destined for a b. you get a note card for the final but lowkirik just like right out every lab calculation you did
A good TA decides how success you are.
Canon event prof
The most idiosyncratic professor in all of UCSB. She prohibits using graphing calculators during the final (who knows why), fails to explain how to do most tasks in lab reports, and grades as if you should've always known the answer to everything. Insufferable.
Class requires so much effort for just 2.5 units and just to be down curved. She has no compassion.
Too much assignments
She curves down and makes TA's take off points of assignments if the class average is too high. One time the TA told us to try on an assignment because the in the one he was talking about it was actually possible to get full credit if you got it all right. We were all excited for that. Also from how the TAs talked about her she was not nice.
avoid her. haha you have no choice
