He lectures a bit faster than I'd like, but nothing too wild. His homework for the most part in this course was pretty reasonable. He does review days prior to his exams, and the exams themselves are very straightforward no tricks at all. You'll know what you need to know for the tests. Funny guy too! Though his humor can be pretty dry. 8.5/10
Hides behind a veneer of humor. Going to office hours is more painful than the dentist unless you enjoy being made feel like you're incompetent. Will assume that you understand the wall of complex summations he writes in lecture without clarification and answers questions superficially. 0/10 do not recommend
Possibly the best math prof I've had at UCSB, he's able to communicate complicated material in a way that makes sense, homework assignments are challenging but helpful, and you get to learn how to use matlab in the process. grading is fair, prof is very available through OH
This is the worst 104A professor. Take it with anybody else.
Ceniceros lectures at the speed of light. He writes things down extremely fast and has explained it all before I can even look up from writing. It was hard to try to get all the notes down, which was a shame because I would miss his explanations. He gives practice problems for the exams... do every single problem; they'll be on the exam.
Funny, nice guy, he lectures really quick but he explains the material well.
Hector is very helpful and made the class enjoyable. Homework was brief but challenging and the practice final exam proved similar to the final.
Hands down the best prof I ever had. He is inspiring, caring, and a gifted mathematician. A must for any math major.
Hector speaks with a bit of an accent, but you get used to it. His blackboard work is very clear and easy to follow. Much better than other math professors I've had.
Pretty good professor. Answers questions well. Kinda funny. Would recommend.
Knowledgeable guy. If you can do the homework you'll do well in the class. Go to TA office hours if you need help. CLAS!
fairly easy, comes off a bit arrogant. Used homework problems on midterm and gave a practice final that helped immensely. Lectures were dry
Decent teacher. Spends a lot of time on proofs in lecture but works along with the text book. His tests are fair and straight foward. If you do all the homework and read examples in the book you will do fine. He was hard to understand at first but you get used to it.
If you can avoid this professor. He is not only hard to understand but he also tries to cram in as many topics into one lecture as he can. I did not learn in his class, I learned more from my TA than I did him. He is also kind of boring. Final worth 50%of grade, so if you need to do very well in order to pass. Hard class, take another professor.
He was hard to understand at first since he wrote extremely small but he stepped up his game for the rest of the quarter. If it weren't for CLAS though, I would've probably failed. I only used the textbook as a reference---you can get away with online help and tutoring to complete the homework. Review was indicative of final exam. Not bad. I passed
He's a great professor. BUT spends the entire class time showing us how he got the formula rather than how to use it!!! Impossible Final Review, with no answers!!! :) and yeah, pretty much talks to the board!!! But hes funny when he wants to be. If that even matters when your going to fail the class lol....
A good professor, probably better for a harder class. He teaches simple things in complicated terms which can be confusing, but he is actually a good teacher. The homework is often way harder that the examples in class, but some of it your discussion section should help with.
AWFUL TEACHER!!! He cannot explain anything in comprehensible terms. He just talks directly to the board the entire hour. He never provides example problems, and just goes into a lengthy proof of the idea, which he later tells us we don't need to know. If I have to hear him say "exes squared" one more time....
Not the best teacher ever or anything, but i guess he gets the job done considering calculus is pretty boring. He is quite repetitive in class though.
He is great. He has a special talent to explain things and to connect to applications. He is really funny and approachable. Best prof I had at UCSB
Explains concepts well and goes through a lot of examples. Practice midterm was identical to the real midterm. Homework is hard, but not worth that much. CLAS is a good call.
Probably the best Math prof. that I've had at this university (and I've almost had them all). His boardwork is perfect, he spends lots of time making sure you understand theory and his tests are very fair (do the practice ones!). He isn't exactly the type of prof. to just GIVE you the answer, but he'll point you in the right direction. A+!
simply the best. funny as hell and excellent at explaining things; his boadwork is great! Very approachable and he is hot too!
Boring!!!!! and he had the nerve to question why i didnt come to class. midterms is like the practice. he goes through material too fast and he doesnt care if you know how to program or not.
