HIST171C . 9 Years Ago

Salim is what more professors should strive to be like. His lectures were amazing and clear, and he constantly used discussions & debates to break up the monotony of long lectures. Because I took his UD course, he allowed us much freedom on the papers to voice our own historical opinions and analysis. Incredible class, and I learned so much.

HIST9 . 9 Years Ago

No tests, grade is based only on three take-home essays, a small presentation, and participation. Class was really easy. i think the subject and professor of HIST 9 changes every quarter , but the subject I took was Reagan's Foreign Policies in the 1980's. Just as boring and tedious as it sounds. Class met once a week for 3 hours.

Had Professor Yaqub for a U.S.-Middle Eastern policy course and absolutely loved it. The lectures were interesting and he's clearly very interested in his topic. Grading was fairly easy (although he nitpicks on grammar) and his occasional voice impersonations tend to be spot on. Would take again!

Professor Yaqub is easily one of the best faculty members in the History Department. Apart from being an interesting class, Yaqub made it easy to digest and entertaining. Grading consisted of two papers (5-6 pages in length) in class participation and a final exam. The readings were always really interesting, never once did I feel bored.

Taken 2 classes with Prof. Yaqub and he's easily my favorite Professor I've had in my four years here. His lectures are engaging, fun, interesting, and just generally enjoyable to attend. I was genuinely sad on the few occasions I had to miss class. He's very approachable & incredibly knowledgable. Can't recommend a prof more. Take any class w him

Great professor, have had him for multiple classes. Extremely knowledgeable about almost every aspect of US foreign policy. Classes were 2 papers and a final. Definitely doable but you have to do your part of the work too. Recommend for everyone to try and take a class with him

Prof. Yaqub is one of the best lecturers I've ever come across. Very approachable and accepting of various points of views. He really goes the extra mile to make his classes entertaining by incorporating in-class activities such as debates & movies.Attendance is mandatory (not a problem for me, I loved coming to class) His impressions are awesome!

Dr. Yaqub is a wonderful lecturer. He really takes the time to ensure that his lectures incorporate pictures, video/ sound clips etc to give them a modern touch. Attendance is mandatory but I found no issues attending every lecture. He does allow you to make up for missed lectures. Prof. Yaqub is very each to work with and is very helpful.

HIST102S . 14 Years Ago

Knowledgable, courteous, and enthusiastic. Prof. Yaqub wants to be in the classroom teaching students. He brings a wide variety of material to class. He does some hilarious impressions of history's celebrities. Approximately 100 pages of reading weekly, but it is not wasteful. I highly recommend this professor.

Class is not difficult if you do the reading and go to the lectures. He makes the lectures interesting by showing movies and playing funny songs.
