Fantastic Professor... Mostly basic stuff and you can get away with not attending lecture but I highly recommend going- its totally worth it. ES majors should take it for sure- easy A

Such a fascinating class! 1 midterm and 1 final, section is like 20% of your grade. He loves what he's teaching and does a great job. Midterm was easy, final was a lot harder but still wasn't hard to get an A. Go to lecture for all the information that you'll be tested on, book isn't used.

Best teacher I have so far. Made class interesting and excting, as well as straight forward. A great class if you dont have a lot of interest or knowledge about science and need the GE. Highly recommend the class! Dr. Even for prez!

Latto is a great professor. But if you are looking for an easy A, I would not take this class. I got a B and I went to every lecture and section and took notes. I found this class extremely interesting and I would definitely recommend taking it.

Latto is GREAT! I got a B- in the class but I did try really hard. I had Mary Toothman as a TA and she was GREAT. LOVED HER! Extremely helpful and clear. Prof Latto is smart and gets the main points out! 1 midterm 1 final and discussion is like 20% of your grade. Enjoyed this course. Good luck!

Prof Latto is great! His lectures are entertaining and interesting. I would definitely recommend going to class because the slides he posts dont include all the info you need to know but I found myself wanting to go to lecture to learn the material. Super easy, make sure you know the index words he gives you and you'll be fine.

Superb lecturer. Even makes ecology a fun subject to learn. Ecology as a science is rather conceptual in nature, but also very intuitive. Test wasn't too bad, considering the average was a C. Highly recommend taking a course with him.

Professor Even is awesome. His lecturing style is incredibly clear and concise and he always seems interested in whatever he is saying. Great, great professor.

All I have to say is wow. Even is one of the best teachers I have had at UCSB so far and has made me so interested in the field of ecology. I really didn't think I was interested at all before. Thank you Dr. Even for making the first half of EEMB 2 so enjoayable. He is the best lecturer and I would love to have him again.

Very clear teacher. Start memorizing slides/phyla as soon as you start learning them. Memorization is the key to this class

Took Latto's CCS Bio and Research Presentation class. They were both extremely helpful and you can see the time and effort he puts into preparing interesting lectures for his students. Also, a very kind and supportive adviser for CCS students!

Even is extremely clear of his expectations, but Tropical Ecology is not easy! The tests are incredibly detailed and they will take points off for the tiniest nuances. However he is very reasonable and understanding if you try to get help and do well. Great professor.

One of my favorite classes I've taken. Latto is a great professor and really makes the lectures interesting. He has a good sense of humor and I highly recommend taking this class. The textbook isn't necessary.

I LOVED this class! The information is extremely interesting and I don't even like biology! Print out his lecture notes before class and take notes on that- it's a lot easier. You don't even have to read, just know the definitions from the book and you're good! Not going to lie, getting A's on the test are not easy but it's definitely worth taking!

GREAT TEACHER. really cares about the students and not just his/her research. really tried to help us and wanted us to succeed. very clear even when material got a little tricky.

I'm a non-major and I tend to hate science, but he made me love it at lease for the quarter. He makes everything SUPER interesting. Two midterms + one final is cumulative and mostly from lecture, you only use the textbook for vocab words. I'd HIGHLY recommend taking him.

Prof Evens is my favorite professor I've had so far at UCSB..I am not a bio major and I only took this class for area C, but he is amazing and the class is extremely interesting! If you attend lecture and study, you will succeed on his tests. Barely have to read textbook. A must-take class!!!

Professor Even is the best professor I've had thus far at UCSB! He is extremely passionate about what he's teaching. He's very likable and presents the material in a straightforward way. His tests make you apply what you learned but he really helps you prepare for them. He made ecology so interesting!

If you want to learn a lot of cool stuff about diseases just for the sake of it being interesting-this is the class for you. The entire grade is made up of a really easy final (45%) and midterm (30%), and section attendance (10%), and easy section quizzes (15%). This class is very easy, and if you ever cared to learn about diseases, take EEMB40

Even is awesome! One of the best professors in the department! Super charismatic and likable and presented material very clearly. One of the few professor's whose teaching style really grasped my attention.
