Prof Cast is one of the best professors at UCSB. I dreaded taking a methods course but it was actually very tolerable and interesting. Theres 3 exams (she gives study guides) and 6 assignments. Attendance isnt mandatory but youll be missing a lot of crucial info for the exams if you dont go. 108 w/ Cast will be your best choice! NO PRESENTATION
3 exams, 8 assignments. Print out powerpoint before class to take notes & studying that is enough for the exams. Assignments are pretty straight forward. She gives random, easy extra credit opportunities. Very organized.
Dr. Cast is awesome. She's weird & funny, and super approachable. I had been putting off the methods course until my last quarter & I'm SO glad I took her. Tests and HW are fair. I hate public speaking, & this is the ONLY methods class where you won't have to do any presentations/group projects. SOC108 can be kinda dry, but she makes it tolerable!
Doctor Cast is a people's professor. From day one, she makes it clear what is expected of students in order for them to succeed. Her lectures are generally clear and helpful, and she does a great job of being available to answer questions and address concerns. If I could have retaken this class, I would have started projects much earlier.
Overall this was a good class. The topics covered are a bit harder to comprehend than those in other courses but Cast makes it both easy and enjoyable. There are three multiple choice exams that are literally out of the book. Pay attention in class and you will do just fine!
Cast is an excellent professor! Her lecture slides are very clear and she structures the class so that material is easy to follow. Her study guides for tests are helpful, and material is very interesting! I'd definitely take another class with Cast!
This class was pointless. Tests covered usually less than a third of what we read. I learned NOTHING from this class because Professor Cast doesn't really teach anything. The tests were very easy. She also expects two essays but will not prepare you for them. Often times the essays are due on the day that topic will be covered in class.
She is an amazing professor! Very fair, straightforward, and knowledgeable
Easiest class I have taken at UCSB. Book was expensive, but her lectures are literally take directly out of the book. Her tests are multiple choice. Very easy to do. She is genuinely nice and helpful. Great class, easy A.
