One of the best professors I've had. The material can be tricky, but Freund's lectures and practice problems make it manageable. Definitely do the prep work - unstuck AI was a lifesaver alongside the textbook. Engaging class, would take again in a heartbeat.
Hands down he is the best physics teacher I have had. He makes the lectures accessible on canvas. His exams are similar to the practice exams he posts. If you are someone who would rather watch lecture videos than going to class, take him. Watch the videos and the practice questions for each module and you will be good.
Freund is awesome, I took the full PHYS6A-C series with him. Tests are exactly like the practice problems he gives out so do them all in preparation for tests or daily to stay on track! Attendance is not mandatory, but if class missed you should watch his posted videos.
There's a reason why he's the GOAT. Definitely my favorite my professor at UCSB
Had Freund for the whole 6 series and he's easily one of my favorite professors I've ever had. Do the practice problems and quiz problems until you basically have them memorized and the tests will be easy. Also, make sure you go to lecture on the last day of 6C
I love this man. I took him for Physics A, B, and C and he never failed to make me laugh. The physics itself is confusing at times, but he makes it easy to digest and usually just gives you one formula that you have to understand. He models his exams after the practice problems for each module, so DO THE PRACTICE PROBLEMS. Give this man a raise!
Absolutely loved Freund. Lectures are engaging with demonstrations at the end of each class. Your grade is almost completely based on midterms, but if you do all of the practice problems, you will be good. Make sure to go to the last class of 6C.
Online lectures available as supplemental material to refer back on! He's the best!
i love freund sooooo much!!!!! i need him just like fish needs water !!!!!!!!!
Really love Freund, such a fun professor and really teaches welllll!!!
Best professor in UCSB
I took all of his PHYS6 with no regret, and the only difference between the classes was the content. We know what to expect in class and grading is fair. He responds to students' questions quickly. I appreciate how amusing he is even though I did 6C online. Tests are important, but you will easily do well if you repeat module practice problems.
Funny guy and inspiring to students that as long as you show up and do the work given you'll be fine. Do his practice tests and there's no surprises on exams
Truly one of the best prof's from UCSB. Is entertaining, engaging, makes lectures available online, and most importantly, actually teaches physics in an understandable manner!
I love Professor Freund. He is so funny with his lectures, and test are heavily based on his practice questions. You do have to study because it is physics, it is not an easy A maybe like an easy C??? Course consists of homework and quizzes for every "module" aka topic and two midterms and a final. Attendance is taken by iclicker.
Freund is a great professor. The online version of this class is really nice- no midterms or finals- just a lot of quizzes, which make up most of the grade. The quizzes are not difficult especially if you do the assigned problems beforehand, as they were always very similar. No busy work, which is nice, but you will still learn a lot.
Freund is the most caring and funny professor I have ever had at UCSB. He explains everything very well and he is very informative and accessible outside of class. I have never been to his office hour but he always spends time to talk to you after class. His tests are very reasonable and you really learn physics from him. Highly recommended!
I took Freund for 6A and in both 6A and 6C, he seemed a little scattered in both (probs bc of his concussion). He's super accommodating for student-athletes and is willing to work with you. He's pretty entertaining, but the material in 6C can get a little trippy when you hit time & relativity. Do his practice exams! He uses problems for the final.
2 midterms and 1 final exam. Material covered include optics, light, EM waves, atoms, nuclei, relativity. Super nice and funny. Tells cringey dad jokes. Tests are for the most part very similar to practice exams. In order to get an A you should study a week beforehand, go to CLAS, and do practice problems/practice tests.
Freund is hands down the best professor to have for the 6 series (besides Popescu for 6B but only for 6B). he got rid of sapling so just 2 midterm, iclicker, final. try to find the tests he doesn't give since he likes to copy paste those question. especially for 6C, he's practice test model his actual exam soooo much. Guy needs tenure.
Dr. Freund is a charming and brilliant professor whose lectures are, unfortunately, sometimes held back from greatness by his scatterbrained organization of topics. Despite this, he succeeds in presenting important ideas to students, and his iClicker questions serve as decent practice. His exams are similar to those in the past, no surprises there!
Freund is a great professor. Physics is not my strong suit, but his comedic character and clear lectures made it much more enjoyable. He may jump around topics sometimes, but covers all the material fairly well. WORK ON the practice tests. He truly cares for all of his students and if you put in the effort, hell go it of his way to help you.
such a funny teacher and he's one of the younger ones so students like him even more. I thought his lectures were upbeat and easy to pay attention in because of how he is.
Freund is super into physics and honestly makes the class bearable. I wish I could've taken him for the first two physics. He is probably my favorite professor over the past 3 years.
