Professor Cho was the best math professor I had at UCSB. Truly wonderful style of teaching, he actually taught the material in a way that made sense and I could always follow along to his lectures. Unlike previous math courses where I had to watch Youtube to actually make sense of the material, his lectures were perfect on their own.

Lectures were pretty clear and are posted on Canvas later. Explained core concepts well. He put questions on exams that dealt with concepts he only briefly went over, but also made it really clear beforehand that they would be on the exams. Grades generously on tests and also gave TA a forgiving grading criteria.

Really enjoyed his lectures. Was super funny and engaging. Liked that he posted his lecture pdfs and audio online. Quizzes every week during section and minimal homework. Didn't like that he made his 1 midterm and 1 final exponentially more difficult than the material he teaches and provides for review, but he was a lenient grader.

I've never seen a professor who's this bad at teaching.

He's not teaching this quarter?

By far the worst professor I've had. The lectures were all over the place; he just rambled off with little structure. The sections were poorly planned. There would be content in the quizzes that he had not covered yet. He does not follow the textbook at all, so it is very hard to learn outside of class.

Attendance is mandatory and notes are messy, but other than that I really loved Cho for the first 9 weeks of class. Then, after telling us our final was NOT cumulative and giving a clear practice final, he gave an unrelated, cumulative final... Really blindsided the whole class after everyone felt like they were doing really well til that point

I don't get all the bad reviews. Yes, he speaks fast, but it doesn't bother me. I really enjoyed his class. Have a good summer!

It is impossible to understand him becuase he speaks so fast. Does not respond to emails and gives tricky questions on exams. Lectures are very disorganized. I don't get the hype about him. Don't take any class with him ever.

Excellent professor. Didn't have to self-study for a single topic. Midterm was easy. Final was not cumulative, but might be normally, still easy. Homework was very light, 6 WW sets. Attendance thru iClicker. Shows cat pictures. Funny guy. Talks very quick and can be hard to keep up with. Still recommend highly. My favorite math prof so far.

He is an absolute gem in the UCSB math department. Seriously. Really reminds me of my high school teachers that actually explain the contents rather than providing a sloppy PowerPoint. This is probably the first math class where I don't need to search up how to do a problem. He is that good. Exams may be difficult but graded leniently.

He had beat 99% professors by recording his lecture diligently and upload it to Gauchospace every single of time. If you like math, take him, as he is willing to share some advanced topics that are fun. If you don't like math, take him, because he will share his cute cat and his personal life in between tough contents.

Explains things very well and makes even difficult concepts make sense. He also uploaded all the lectures on his Youtube:)

Lectures are very organized and teach the content well. However, he talks really fast and it might be hard to digest the content at times, which is why you need to review your notes. His exams are quite similar to the practice ones, but he'll throw in a challenging question that might be unfamiliar. He's the best lecturer I've had.

He's a genius and also knows how to teach. Please take a class with him if you have an opportunity. He records lectures and posts them right away lecture. The practice exams are identical to the real exams. Be aware of weekly quizzes in section.

He is an alright professor and probably on the better end for the math department. His lectures seem lengthy and sometimes starts talking about things you never need to learn. He gives practice tests that are very similar to his real tests and he gives decent partial credit. Overall average professor.

You have to go to class, because the entire course is based on his lectures and he will give you hints about the problems on the midterms and finals. As long as you listen in class and do the practice tests, you know exactly what will be on each test. Some of my friends in the class didn't like his lecture style, but I really enjoyed it :))

Professor Cho is overall a decent professor, but he used to go on tangents about math concepts that were although interesting, not relevant if you are not a mathematics major. I think the grading on his exams were pretty fair, but I did most of my learning from my TA in section.
