No matter how much you study (even if you do every single textbook problem, Aleks, CLAS, and practice quizzes) you will not be prepared for the exams or quizzes. They are EXTREMELY tricky and not a good representation of the stuff he posts online. He changes questions from lectures and text book problems to make sure youve never seen it before.

Professor Joseph is pretty great! Every time I retake chemistry with him I get a significantly higher grade, even after having failed the class hard the previous quarter with another professor. His lecture style is my favorite of the three other chem professors I had (Price and Kunkel). So glad to have had him twice.

I had Joseph for chem 1A and 1B. Overall hes a really great professor! Hes very good at explaining how to get a good grade in the class, and as long as you stay diligent youre gold. Attend all lectures and make sure that you can do the book problems on your own! Aleks is good too, but its not so helpful when it comes to exam prep.

Joseph's tests are incredibly conceptual and have almost no calculation based questions. This sounds good at first but it can be very tricky so beware. Lectures were absolutely useless. He barely works any problems on the board so be ready to figure it out yourself. He also over-complicates everything. I got a higher grade in 1B which is "harder"

Homework, lectures, exams are different things. Lecture is interesting but homework is not helpful for exams. Exams are not easy.

I think joseph is a pretty good professor. he goes faster than price, but his office hours are really helpful. if you want to do well in the class than make sure you go to all office hours and read all his slides. this quarter there was a pretty big curve (82% for an A-) because the final was really hard.

Joseph's lectures are really good, but his assessments are in no way representative of the material nor what you know about the topic. The "practice" that he gives is helpful for half of it, but unless you've read the entire book you're not going to have any idea what to do for the other half. Your grade has more to do with luck than effort.

Not organized at all. 1C is pretty messed up already. His lecture and his horrifying slides make it worse. He likes to test you on stuff in the book that he DID NOT go over in lecture. And his voice is annoying. I don't understand why people speak highly of him.

Really amazing professor who truly cares about his students. Could not recommend more. I got an A- and thought his test questions were extremely fair and not as tricky as they could've been. Really prepares you for Chem-109A well, and gives great lectures.

Joseph was a great chemistry professor. He is very relaxed, but also goes kinda fast in his lectures. He is very fair with grading, and he is very accessible outside of class. The curve is really small in Chem 1C in general, so don't expect much. Work hard, and you will be fine. He really cares about his students succeeding.

Do all the book problems and you'll definitely pass. He's the only chem professor that offers few points of extra credit. Chem is hard but Joseph definitely makes passing possible.

I love Crisjoe. I've had him as a professor twice now and he's an incredible lecturer when it comes to Chemistry. Some profs just don't know how to teach those tough ochem topics but I never struggled in his class. He's also pretty funny and is playful with students while remaining professional.

Dr. Joseph is one of the most underrated chem profs, and imo the best chem prof. He makes everything very clear and easy to understand. The tests are easy to ace as long as you do some book problems, ALEKS, and the practice tests. He's very reasonable and willing to help students outside of class. IT'S ON THE MONEY!

Hands down the best chem professor on campus. I had feldwinn my first two chem classes and then got joseph for chem 1c. He made chemistry much easier, and so much more interesting. He's a funny guy who really knows his stuff. If you get the chance to take any chem classes with him, DO IT. Do practice exams and book work and you will get an A.

His tests and quizzes are not at all what was expected from his lectures. However, you can predict what will be on the tests slightly since he reuses some of the previous quiz's questions. There are a lot of opportunities to redeem yourself if you don't do very well the first half of the quarter. Definitely requires a lot of studying with him.

This professor covered a lot of important material very last minute. Usually he covered brand new information the lecture before the test and sometimes a few minutes before the quizzes yet we were still expected to know it completely

I learned a lot in this class. Final was composed of nothing but computational trick questions, but overall a decent class.

I had Joseph for 1A and 1C, and I believe he is a solid lecturer and he wants to see his students succeed. Make sure to utilize his practice quizzes and tests, because he structures the new questions in a similar way. His tests are difficult but reading the book definitely helped me with topics that he skimmed over in lecture. It's on the money!

He was okay overall. Focused on readings more than Price did which messed me up on iClicker questions and made me confused on some concepts, but I choose not to read the book for this class because it only confuses me. Lectures were pretty dull and the powerpoints could be written better.

Nice professor, good at teaching. If you put time into his class you will get a good grade.

Tests are hard, complex, and not reflective of what is taught in lecture. Lectures are kind of dry, but if you study hard enough, you'll get an okay grade. He doesn't give out many A's.

Joseph is a good lecturer. His tests are fairly easy as far among freshman chemistry professors. It still requires a good deal of work, though.

He makes his lectures easy to follow, but he does go quickly through the topics. You gotta be on top of your game especially nearing the last half of the quarter. Test questions are mainly covered during lecture so I highly recommend you pay attention. Don't let the Spring-quarter-mindset get the best of you, you still gotta work for that grade.

Joseph is a great teacher and is more than willing to offer help but his tests are tough and I had to study considerably more than I did in previous quarters. He leaves some important details out of lecture so doing many book problems is critical to success. Devote alot of time to understanding conceptual themes in order to be prepared for exams
