Somehow the easiest class I've ever had, but the only global class I've ever gotten a B in. Doesn't give interesting or retainable information, lectures (if they even happen) are just jargon. Graded on a couple written assignment with easy guidelines but they are graded based on things we weren't aware of. She is nice at least, but don't take.
Very disorganized, often wouldn't show up or just put on a documentary instead of lecturing. She put the majority of responsibility on the poor TA's.
In the last lecture I watched, she said um/uh 62 times in 5 minutes. As someone with a learning disability, it is super distracting and very difficult to understand what she is trying to say. Also, it is only when she is lecturing which is probably why everyone calls her disorganized.
Lots of reading, but readings and lectures overlap which helps a lot. Weekly quizzes, but they're easy and help with reviewing for the midterm and final. She lets you argue for your quiz answers if you got something wrong, and if you convince her she'll give you points. No papers, written midterm/final which weren't hard. Easy overall
Professor Lezra always seemed SO disorganized and unprepared for lecture. She would tell interesting stories based on the materials from the reading but she often trailed off ("um, okay, moving on") and wouldn't get her point across. She would sometimes snap at students for no reason. Would not recommend if you have a choice. Easy A, though.
Really easy class, not sure why people think she's hard. Showed up every lecture for iclicker attendance credit, never stayed for a full lecture, and got an A+ on the midterm. She's a little disorganized, but she was way more helpful than my TA. She's really nice and approachable too. Simple weekly quizzes, lots of movies, posts lectures on gaucho.
Lezra is honestly a very understanding professor, which is why I took her for 2 classes. Her readings aren't heavy and you can see she has a passion for teaching about ethics. She's a little clumsy and old fashion but means well. Weekly (EASY) quizzes, short answer midterm and in class essay final as well as attendance in section and class.
What a disorganized and confusing mess of a class. I hate to be harsh but how Lezra became a professor is beyond me. Her class is fairly easy to get by in but she is not a good teacher. Most of the material is not clear and neither is she. In class assignment every Monday a quiz every Wednesday with no clear direction. Take 110 with someone else!
Not mandatory lectures but you should go because alot of the notes are based on what she talks about not just words on the slides. Very enlightening class on ethics. Its not easy but not hard if you realize this class is going to take some thought and responsibility. Great overall, she is very smart.
Dont understand why she has such bad reviews. Took her over summer. One reading per night that you will have to write a reflection on in class the next day. A quiz at the end of every week but she drops 2/5 quizzes! Final is made up of MC questions that the students write. Her lecture informs you of what you need to know for quizzes. LOVED HER!
3 5pg papers, 1 multiple choice final exam & easy lecture quizzes to check attendance/reading. this class is going to make you think about the real world good and bad. I truly felt like I learned, although material can be dense and requires a philosophical/critical thinking. She is super smart, knows latin, and even gave some extra credit
Avoid at all costs. Has no clue how to write exams. Lectures are full of meaningless academic jargon. Refers to herself as a "historian" in nearly every single class, yet avoids teaching history/historical facts almost entirely. Class might improve if she reallocated some of the effort she spends hyping her self up as some sort of important scholar
She is just a very poor teacher. The guest lecturers taught the class better than she did. The TAs were also better teachers. Even the student presentations were a better source of info than Lezra's lectures. The work load was unreasonable.TWO 1HR essays and a Multiple choice test for the final. You will learn nothing of value here
This professor is best suited for research, NOT teaching. Lectures were often confusing. Confusing tests led to 2nd midterm which was not on syllabus. Even TAs were confused most of the time. A ton of busy work every week that was not beneficial. Inconsistent in grading assignments/tests. AVOID HER. Take with another professor.
Horrible class. Stay AWAY... WAY TOO MUCH BUSY WORK... Lecture is POINTLESS
Great professor for this course. Focus on violence in culture. Her tests are a bit unorthodox. Always available to talk. Definitely rewires the way you approach topics/think about them. A lot of students in her classes whine about work but this IS a core class & it IS upper division so get ready for a nice workload. Not a problem for upper division
THE WORST. PROF. EVER. boring boring boring. expects us to do tonne of hw every week (post Q on gauchospace after each lecture, gauchospace online post x3, 2 page [single-spaced] RQTA or whateverthef reading notes) she may be a passionate prof, but you know something is kinda weird when she holds skype office hours.so boring. AVOID HER FOR GPA.
Lezra is knowledgeable and very passionate about the topic. She seems nice and approachable. I definitely needed section to clarify the topics and the lectures but I guess that's why we have them. I would say I learnt a lot from this class.
Profesoo Lezra might no be the best but i think she is trying really hard to improve her teaching abilities. We had a 10 page final, and reading notes every week,The reading was very interesting and she even goes over it in class. her exams are based mostly on the reading. In general it was tough but you keep up with readings you should be fine.
Lezra is kind and passionate, but extremely disorganized. She doesn't follow the syllabus, assigns readings/assignments with little notice. Lectures are excruciating- no lecture slides (if there are, its just complex text), and hard to follow. Material is interesting, and fair grading.
Not the worst, but classes aren't organized or thought out. Focus is mainly on the reader with some movies as well, and grade is based on two papers and attendance. Claims to be a tough grader but really isn't.
Lezra is extremely confusing and unorganized. She cancelled class multiple times with no good explanation. She snaps at students randomly in class. She gives extremely vague prompts and expects very precise answers to questions you didn't even know she was asking. She gave me a C on a paper with little to no explanation.
I've had two full Global courses with Lezra; I honestly don't know how she is an upper-division professor for the Global department, she really upset a lot of her students and I feel it's a little unprofessional that she's the ONLY professor the teaches the required courses to graduate in my major. Extremely unorganized and tests didn't make sense.
Most of her lectures are inspiring. She has lots of cool ideas too. However, she treats the class too casually sometimes, cancelling classes for no good reason. The most important is you don't know what she is really looking for. She barely gives any feedback and you just get the single final grade in the end.
