Very disorganized, often wouldn't show up or just put on a documentary instead of lecturing. She put the majority of responsibility on the poor TA's.
In the last lecture I watched, she said um/uh 62 times in 5 minutes. As someone with a learning disability, it is super distracting and very difficult to understand what she is trying to say. Also, it is only when she is lecturing which is probably why everyone calls her disorganized.
Not the worst, but classes aren't organized or thought out. Focus is mainly on the reader with some movies as well, and grade is based on two papers and attendance. Claims to be a tough grader but really isn't.
Lezra is extremely confusing and unorganized. She cancelled class multiple times with no good explanation. She snaps at students randomly in class. She gives extremely vague prompts and expects very precise answers to questions you didn't even know she was asking. She gave me a C on a paper with little to no explanation.
Lots of reading, but readings and lectures overlap which helps a lot. Weekly quizzes, but they're easy and help with reviewing for the midterm and final. She lets you argue for your quiz answers if you got something wrong, and if you convince her she'll give you points. No papers, written midterm/final which weren't hard. Easy overall
Professor Lezra always seemed SO disorganized and unprepared for lecture. She would tell interesting stories based on the materials from the reading but she often trailed off ("um, okay, moving on") and wouldn't get her point across. She would sometimes snap at students for no reason. Would not recommend if you have a choice. Easy A, though.
Really easy class, not sure why people think she's hard. Showed up every lecture for iclicker attendance credit, never stayed for a full lecture, and got an A+ on the midterm. She's a little disorganized, but she was way more helpful than my TA. She's really nice and approachable too. Simple weekly quizzes, lots of movies, posts lectures on gaucho.
Lezra is honestly a very understanding professor, which is why I took her for 2 classes. Her readings aren't heavy and you can see she has a passion for teaching about ethics. She's a little clumsy and old fashion but means well. Weekly (EASY) quizzes, short answer midterm and in class essay final as well as attendance in section and class.
What a disorganized and confusing mess of a class. I hate to be harsh but how Lezra became a professor is beyond me. Her class is fairly easy to get by in but she is not a good teacher. Most of the material is not clear and neither is she. In class assignment every Monday a quiz every Wednesday with no clear direction. Take 110 with someone else!
I've had two full Global courses with Lezra; I honestly don't know how she is an upper-division professor for the Global department, she really upset a lot of her students and I feel it's a little unprofessional that she's the ONLY professor the teaches the required courses to graduate in my major. Extremely unorganized and tests didn't make sense.
Most of her lectures are inspiring. She has lots of cool ideas too. However, she treats the class too casually sometimes, cancelling classes for no good reason. The most important is you don't know what she is really looking for. She barely gives any feedback and you just get the single final grade in the end.
For the love of all things good DO NOT take a class with this professor. She is disorganized, goes on rants instead of actually teaching, and is extremely strict with everything. Every Monday there were quizzes and every Wednesday there were writing prompts. Midterm was easy, oral exam. Final was ridiculously hard and did not make sense.
