Professor Case was the worst professor I have ever had at UCSB. She could be teaching history to 7th graders. Just read the textbook and you will be able to spit out the same info. she does in lecture. Tests and assignments are easy, but sitting through her lecture is difficult!

I had hated history throughout highschool until I took this class, and I now LOVE the subject. On obvious passion for the subject as well as an enthusiasm for teaching, perhaps it's because she's younger, but she is full of vim and vigor for both! What at

the "um's" drove me nuts. Not too difficult as long as you get an easy TA since they do all of the grading. Never went to lecture, crammed for the papers and final- got a C+. You get what you put in.

Professor Case is great! She really knows her stuff and she is very helpful to her students. The class was challenging and very interesting and engaging.

Professor Case cares about the material and wants us to care as well. She focuses on the lives people lived, not merely who shot up who in which war. Staying two or three minutes after the official end of class to get the wisdom of this woman is definitely worth it.

Talks about random unimportant things in lecture, uses slides- but the content isn't great, gets so boring you coun't how many times she says "um" each lecture, no midterm and not too hard, but really boring...

Boring, Lectures about the least important things, Not very easy (but not extremely hard). Don't bother going, just get the AS notes or notes from a friend.

She says "again" a ridiculous amount of times in her lecture- it's really obnoxious. Also she has no presence, and half the time her lectures are unclear

Not a very good speaker. Repeats herself and uses "um" and "uh" excessively. Get's the point across, but sometimes I got sidetracked by all the um's. Lots to remember, not a lot to read though. Interesting material(Pre& Post Civil War). Try and get a different professor if "um" bugs you.

Dr. Case is very interesting. She obviously knows her stuff and is very interesting and clear. Take this class with Case!

Professor Case is a good lecturer. She is very clear and really hammers home the important stuff. Her class is easy because she teaches you the material well. Also, she is gorgeous. I think I may proposition her for sex.

Very boring. Ran late and spent time repeating inane things. If you have Case, don't bother going to class.

decent lecturer, says "umm" a lot, factual clear powerpoints, but papers are mostly from reader, which she doesnt discuss, 2 papers and a final, no midterm, not very interesting or engaging, just reciting the book more or less, she knows her stuff but doesnt know how to make it interesting

She picked really strange things to spend time on. it's a short class for a lot of history but she should have omitted some of the smaller stuff to have time to focus more on major events/people. spoke very fast and you need to be able to listen and copy her notes simultaneously. she ALWAYS ran late

some people dont like that she uses power points, but i do...it's easier than her just speaking really fast or being unorganized...i didnt like how she often ended class late..didn't know how to manage the 50 mins she had...very understanding though, really friendly too! no midterm either!
