I took this class for a 3 week summer course. Really straight forward and easy to follow, but make sure to attend EVERY lecture. Book is good for supplementary reading to clear up any uncertainties from class. 1 midterm, 1 final, and other small assignments. Tough grader on everything written but the tests are straightforward.
I took her for Summer Comm/Conflict. The midterm was straightforward, but there was some confusion about what would be on the final because the study guide wasn't as precise. The course moved quickly, but she was always willing to answer questions. Don't have to do ALL of the reading, but some of it IS on the tests. Highly Recommend!
A great Prof. Took her for 3wk summer course, found it to be easy. Do have to keep up w/reading, but test are straightforward from lecture and bk. If you attend lectures which is a must and do the reading you'll be fine. I didn't study too much for the midterm or final but attended class and read the bk and got an A.
Take her 3-week conflict class! She's super cool and this was sooo easy. You get comprehensive study guide for midterm and final, and have to keep a daily log and write a 1-2 page paper on it. She's great and listens to students and makes sure they aren't overwhelmed.
Meyers is incredibly kind. She took a topic that could easily be dull and made it genuinely interesting. The testing and assignment grading were very fair and the lectures were engaging and felt highly applicable to real-world scenarios. Test questions were nothing unexpected (she has a study guide). 3 discussion posts that were not bad.
My first time having Prof Myers and I loved her so much that I signed up for her two classes in Fall! Material is super digestible and applicable, so much so that lectures aren't too boring. Grade consists of 2 easy pop quizzes, 2 in-class activities, weekly discussion posts on PackBack, and a mc midterm and final. One of the best profs out there!
this class was pretty chill and Myers was so sweet. weekly discussion posts and a multiple choice midterm and final.
Karen is really caring, passionate, and knowledgeable about organizational comm! I found doing the textbook readings and thoroughly filling out the study guides and notes (not just filling in the blanks but adding extra details from lectures) will go far! Most of the grade is exam-based so early preparation and attending lectures greatly helped.
Prof. Myers is caring and gives great advice about entering the workforce. The grading criteria consists of two MC non-cumulative exams, a $10 online simulation, a paper about UCSB COMM career day, a term paper referring to a news article and research that involve concepts related to the course, and 5 class assignments/quizzes (lowest is dropped).
Prof. is extremely boring the only way I'm able to pay attention to her lectures is bc she has a pdf for us to fill in words throughout her lectures. there is a lot of reading, a midterm, final, random quizzes that counts as attendance. do not take this class if you want to skip class. i don't recommend taking her. worst prof i've taken at ucsb.
Weekly quizzes/assignments but they were all easy to complete as long as you watched all the lectures and skimmed the readings. Lectures were not too long and were really helpful in breaking down the readings. The course also has one 2-3 page paper that was not too difficult either if you keep up with the class material.
Myers is great! Her lectures were really interesting. She posts the notes online and you just have to fill in the blanks. The bike company group project was intense but fun, and she gave us time to work on it in class. Exams were pretty easy as long as you use the study guide. Overall a solid choice and I learned a lot about marketing.
Prof Myers is goals! She is respected by students, well put together, and enthusiastic. Loved her class and wished she taught other classes. Learned about advertising, sales, sports marketing, etc. Because I want to go into marketing in the future, this class gave me a better understanding of it. The midterm is not bad, quizlet helps.
There were two tests, a group online simulation where you create a bike company, a career fair assignment, and a student evaluation. The material was not difficult but the exam was very difficult. Even questions based on what was said when a speaker came in for 15 mins! very specific! Also, she is not an approachable person. Not a bad class tho.
I enjoyed taking this course and she was one of my favorite professors I've had at UCSB! She clearly explains the course concepts and makes it relevant to everyday life. The tests are pretty easy if you keep up with all assignments, but there's tough grading on the essay. I liked her class so much I'm taking another one of her courses next quarter
Professor Myers was great! I just finished her Comm152 class over the 3 week summer session, and I thoroughly enjoyed it! She provides lecture notes and study guides which makes studying super easy and very helpful! The tests are a bit difficult so you do have to study, but if you do the work, attend lecture, and study you should be okay!
Attendance is mandatory, she gives pop quizzes and random assignments. The midterm was okay. The marketing project was interesting and I actually enjoyed it. The final, forget about it, no matter how much reading you do or how much you study, half of the material on it you have never seen before. The exam was very poorly worded and answers missing.
Makes it really hard to get a good grade in her class, no matter how hard you work. The less likely she discusses something in lecture, the more it's going to be on the test. The content she does discuss won't help you in a real marketing job and is super vague. She grades the marketing plan really harshly and gives no direction. Slow grader!!!!
Myers is AWESOME! Very good looking... Extremely nice woman who has experience in the field of marketing. Class is very interesting and I actually enjoyed going. She gives pop quizzes so attendance is important but she is very reasonable. Tests are not too bad. I got a B+ without ever reading the book. I highly recommend to COMM majors!
I took this class for a 3 week summer course. Attend lecture! She gave us 2 quizzes, but only the quiz with the highest score counted towards our grade. The ad assignment is really easy and you can work with a partner. 1 midterm, 1 final(non-cumulative). Follow the study guide and tests are easy. Read stuff on Gaucho! txtbook just repeats lecture
Myers is extremely well put together, but a bit soft spoken. Lecutres notes are given online, but missing some points so you go to class. The study guide is extremely helpful. 1 case study (7-10pgs) and a creative brief ad assignment. MC midterm & final. Overall good class, A LOT of info.
She's a great speaker and her lectures are easy to follow. Tests and quizzes are straight forward although some questions are tricky, so be sure to ask for clarification. Myers is also a gorgeous woman - very put together and classy. Loved her and her class. Take COMM 166 - marketing is very interesting and you'll learn a lot!
Very nice woman. Class is pretty easy but I somehow managed to get a B+ :/ One midterm, one final, no papers, and an advertising project. Tests are both mc and straight-forward but they are very short (only 40 q's) so even missing a couple screws you over. Notes are online with fill-in-the-blanks to get you to go to lecture
best prof in major! however, requires a lot of work. meets 2x/week +section. have to observe a small group in an assigned group and give a 20 min presentation on it. one 5-6 pg reflection paper, 1 midterm, 1 final, 2 logs (about group work)...good class but a lot of work compared to other classes in the major. memorize study guide for exams!!
