Waqar is an unempathetic human being for subjecting his students to the grading in this class. His final exam should be used as a CIA torture technique. This school is wrong for allowing this man to teach.

Bad lecturer and bad communicator. The chair of the department had to be involved to PROTECT the rights of students to be assessed fairly and get the prof to stick to a fair grading scheme. 10/10 will NOT recommend

I was relying on the extra credit promised on quizzes to pass this class. If the extra credit wasn't going to count, then why did it remain on for more than two weeks? Prof failed to clarify quiz policy and now I have to retake the class.

the final exam was made ten times harder than the practice exam. his grading will mess your grade when you expect the least. also did not give us the extra credit on quizzes that PROMISED BY THE TA.

Waqar is a funny guy and pretty ok in lectures. Notes are solid. HW is almost unreal at times but 2 are dropped so its not that bad. Had MAJOR miscommunications with TAs that nearly resulted in me failing. This is just a hard subject but not to worry he made the tests 10x harder than the practice ones to throw you off. Final had EC so that was nice

can this school actually hire professors who actually KNOW how to teach? I have had my fair share of bad professors but this one tops the list. Lectures were completely useless and I had to each myself everything. also unhelpful in office hours. CLAS and TA are what got me through this torturous class

I had an A+ until the final exam, which caused my grade to drop by two levels. Do with that information what you will

PSA: this course looks nice and all but the final looks nothing like the practice exam, so it will screw your grade when you expect the least. Avoid this prof at all costs

Choose this prof when you want to fail the class.

I genuinely don't think I would have done as well as I did in 6A with a different teacher. He is energetic and engaging in his lectures. All his notes are written on his ipad so they are easy to read and are posted on Canvas for reference. Quizzes are easy. Hw is 20 questions per week. Midterm was easy and final had extra credit. Take him!!!

I am unable to think of a better professor for calculus than Waqar. He is energetic during lectures and very approachable in person, which is all in addition to his detailed notes so even the people who attend zero classes can understand what went on in them. Exams are fair and final contains extra credit. Overall a W

Funny lecturer, practice material was related to the actual tests, but test formats weren't the best. Overall very good though!

His lectures may not be the best (still above average), but his lecture SLIDES are the best. Even better than the textbooks sometimes, I might say. Not too much to say otherwise, so here is the scoring criteria: | Quiz 20% | HW 20% | Midterm 25% | Final 35% | Final has extra credit so you literally won't mess that up.

Quizzes are 20% of your grade and only one lowest quiz is dropped so they are pretty important; Most were easy. Homework is 20% and in my opinion was difficult and time consuming. First midterm wasn't too difficult but not easy. Final had an extra credit problem which helps a lot. I also recommend reading the free textbook.

I got an A even for 76% midterm, the final was 60 with 10 extra, theoretically, you can get an A+. He presented amazing lectures with extremely well-organized notes. The midterm and final are a little tricky, but there are extra credits. The homework is 20 webwork questions per week and 6 quizzes per quarter (grading very friendly).

Definitely the best math teacher I've had in UCSB (although only taken 2 math courses). He writes notes on iPad in the classes and then posts them after the class. So you will get basically the same information even if you don't attend the class. The notes is easy to read and understand, so it's very friendly for self-studying.

Lectures do not make any sense and homework does not seem related to what is taught in class at all. TA does a better job than the professor

Expect extremely boring lectures, hard materials, and harsh exams. I was one of the few students who went to every lecture and witnessed how half of the class just quitted coming to lectures after the second week

This was the worst class I have ever taken at UCSB. He assigned impossible problems for both exams and WebWorks. PSA to those taking 6A: AVOID THIS PROF AT ALL COSTS
