Took Fulkerson this past fall q and was shocked by all the negative reviews. Truly a gem, especially in the con department. Attending lecture is important because he will often give exact answers to the test. Additionally, he makes the tests at the beginning of the the quarter so all of his lectures teach for the test. Class is graded on a curve :(

Attending lectures is useless and the section is useless. I went to office hours and he doesn't care about his students. Also, the TA's don't even explain correctly and always mess up on problems. He gives you hints to what is on the test but it's never even on the tests so don't bother writing it down.

I took this class in person after COVID. He did not care that a majority of his students had never attended a real lecture hall or taken a real test in person in college. He constantly told our class we were doing worse than the previous quarter which was online and hearing from those kids they had chegg to look up the test answers.

Professor Fulkerson is a really good professor. He worked at E & Y so he is able to give students lots of insight about potential careers and the field in general. He gives really constructive responses to academic questions and he will put effort into email responses. His lectures are not boring since he breaks down all the technical stuff well.

I liked my time with Scott. 132A was the only class I took with him, but I found it straightforward and educational. There are 2 tests in the course and no finals week exam. The rest of the grade is from HW and the audit simulations. I found the sims hard at first, but valuable in showing what a real audit is like. He's pretty funny too. SCOTT GOAT

Took this class in Spring 2021. Scott is clear on what will be on the exams. 3 exams in total, worth 90% of the grades. All in multiple choices. U have to really know the material and practiced book problems to pass the exam. The class is curved, the average is around 70-80% for every exams. Lectures are not recorded, so must attend lectures.

One of my worst experiences at Santa Barbara. Not only was the professor not good at all in teaching valuation and evaluating companies (kept talking about his audit experience even though this course has nothing to do with audit) but he is a horrible grader as well. I scored top of class in both the exams, had 100% in all home work and I was given

Exams were fair as long as you take the time to study. Agree w other review to do well early for cushion. Really good at breaking down confusing concepts, which is pretty hard to do online. Content was kinda dull but lectures were fine (interesting stories & funny jokes). One of the best profs I've had so far, def would take him again.

Awesome professor gives entertaining lectures, impressive given acct. isn't the most energizing subject. Course was graded out of 1200 points: 350 * 3 tests + 150 for Wiley Plus homework. The final section was the most difficult, do well on early tests to give yourself a cushion for the final.

Professor Fulkerson is one of the best teachers I've had while at UCSB. His lectures were very concise and he rarely digressed. He also had some funny jokes and stories about his personal life and time at EY. His exams were fair and there were never any surprises. I don't usually go to office hours, but going to his were always insightful.

He randomly gives points to people have their camera on during zoom. BUT I have been experiencing allergic reactions on my face, and turning on camera would be the the last thing I want to do. Quite upset about that I attended every single lecture. He shares a lot of stories about EY that are related to the material to help you understand

Scott is a great teacher. The material itself may be boring sometimes, but he makes lectures as interesting as possible by interacting with students and giving his personal experiences in the field. Class is test heavy and they are a little tricky, but nothing ridiculous. The most important thing is doing the HW and practice problems.

Scott is a great guy, experienced in his field, and really cares about helping the students out. I think he did a great job managing online courses this quarter. Go to lecture, go to section, understand the homework/practice problems and you will be good to go.

Scott is wonderful! He's funny and uses his real life experience to explain different concepts that appear in his classes. I've taken him for 3 different courses and have always left delighted. He's my favorite accounting professor at UCSB. The tests are difficult but he outlines what will be on them. Other than that, the grading isn't that bad

He creates a massive amount of STRESS and WORK for the students. Usually, studying all his slides, you will ace the exam. But all his questions now are from Wiley Plus and the questions ridiculously difficult. For the final, I have to study all 8 chapters and practice at least 250 question/chap. He gave great lectures, but even greater stress!

Scott's a good teacher! He sets clear grading requirements and makes sure to focus on the things you actually need to know. And when the coronavirus situation caused UCSB to cancel classes, he handled the situation well and kept us posted throughout the entire process. Would recommend!

Good lecturer who cares about the success of his students. Going to class is the move bc he lets you know specifics about exams. Tests are tricky, but if you genuinely understand the material they aren't too bad. Homework is tough but it really does help you understand. Overall chill, funny guy. Scott is a real one.

Scott is the man. I got an F on the final and still ended with an A-. The reason was probably because we had the best presentation. That out of the way, he wont follow you on instagram so that hurts. Other than that cant find anything bad to say about him.

Scott is a great guy! Hes one of the chillest accounting professors who is always willing to talk to students about anything. He does make his exams hard but the class is curved so it ends up being okay. Get to know him, pay attention in class, and PARTICIPATE! The only thing that sucks about this class is the project if you get a bad group.

Props to this professor who could turn basic question into world's most difficult to understand what he's even asking of you. Gives you extra information in an already long text for you to cherry pick the information you need all within 1hr and 15 mins for 50 questions. Also has a monotone to put you to asleep in lecture- an added bonus to weed out

It's true, Fulkerson's class is not easy. Go to lecture. he's very thorough, organized and good at explanations. He tells you what is important or not from the textbook. Do well in Wiley hw as extra points can differentiate you. Read the textbook ahead of lecture & go to CLAS! Be proactive, you'll be fine. MT1 46/50, MT2 45/50, Final 79/87

Professor Fulkerson was my favorite econ professor to date. Accounting lectures can be boring, but professor Fulkerson keeps them interesting with real world insight from his experience in public accounting. The exams are difficult, so read the book and attend lecture because he usually gives hints on what to study for the exams.

Professor Fulkerson was a great 3B professor. I had him and he made me want to attend lecture. Even though accounting isn't the most entertaining course, he made the experience enjoyable. Attendance was not mandatory but he would tell you exactly what you needed to know for the exams. Do ORION and the HW from the textbook. Great in office hours too

Had Fulkerson for 3B and now I have him for 136A. He's a really chill professor that genuinely cares about his students. He's a little bit more rigid with grading in 3B but he does try his best to give out as many good grades as he can. Also, go to lecture because he'll tell you specific things you need/don't need to know for exams.
