He is very devoted and great at lecturing, not really any hard outside assignments just really work hard on the labs because they are a big portion of your grade. The tests were a bit more difficult than I thought, but you get cheat sheets so it is definitely manageable.
Took as a GE and obviously passionate about his field. Did much better on final than midterm that he rounded my grade. Weekly section mandatory as worksheets due at the end but my TA was chill and easy to ask questions to. Not much to memorize but understand general concepts and use of cheat sheets on midterm and final (don't negate studying tho!)
He seems nice and makes things interesting however if you're not into the subject it gets boring. You don't rlly have to attend lectures but definitely section. Midterm was rlly difficult most failed it however depending on final he'll bring scores up. As long as you do weekly section work you can pass the class.
A lot of material and memorization. Dont take for easy GE. Tests in class
He's a really good lecturer and just a really entertaining guy. The class is super boring tho, the exams were difficult and in-person.
Prof Moore was an amazing professor. You can tell he really cares about his students and his subject. Really interesting class, but beware, the tests are difficult. You are allowed a one-page cheat sheet, but don't rely on it!! Otherwise, labs have a worksheet due at the end of each class. Overall I recommend this class!
Professor Moore was very kind and you can tell he really cares about what he is teaching. the class wasn't as dinosaury as i thought it would be and the exams were reallyyy hard. make sure you show up and do the labs
My TA (Zach) kinda sucked- worksheet every week (due end of class) lowered my grade. John is chill, class is interesting. Quiz was hard IT IS NOT OPEN NOTE OR ONLINE ANYMORE everyone I know got around a 65-70 and it is worth a good chunk of ur grade. Final improves grade if u study hard. Good luck
SUCH an easy class and lowkey a fun one too. Took it as a GE and the only thing you really have to show up to is the section, which lowkey is a lot because you have to do a worksheet each section and turn it in at the end of section. Good class for a GE requirement tho
professor is very nice, insightful, and passionate about what he's teaching. Both the midterm and the final were online which is very convenient. They weren't easy but as long as you go to class and take notes on what he's saying (not just the slides) you should do well. Labs were long but easy and had info that were on the tests. Overall, great!
Professor Moore's a super chill guy who clearly knows his stuff, and his class is a good Area C G.E. course. Both the midterm and final were open note and online.
One of the nicest professors out there. Super fun and easy to talk to. Just do the work learn those cladograms and you will be fine.
Greatest guy you'll come in contact with. Very passionate about what he does and is one of the best professors I've ever had. John Moore = greatest to ever do it
Ultimate chiller. Don't listen to these people saying you have to work to get an A. If you're chill enough you'll get one. Shoutout John Moore, would love to grab a pint with you.
The lectures were pretty boring and there's a lot of vocabulary to learn that can get confusing. The midterm and final were both take home tests, but definitely study before the exams so you at least know where to find the answers in your notes, since the questions are pretty specific. It's clear he's passionate about the material.
professor Moore is amazing. he is such a sweet professor and you can tell he loves teaching his class (even if the audience doesn't care much). he's really goofy and sweet, and I would 100000% take a class with him again. he's also a really easy person to talk to and the TA I had was also so sweet.
First couple weeks are a lot of information that's not exactly dinosaurs, but he makes the information interesting. Easy grader, and fun class! Would recommend for anyone needing the GE.
This class is very easy to pass but expect to put in a good/decent amount of effort to get an A. Moore is very enthusiastic and knowledgeable, the class is well structured and I would take it again.
So kind and incredibly knowledgable in the subject. Gave great answers to any questions asked (and lots of people asked questions)
Prof Moore is an amazing person and will make you laugh. You can tell he loves teaching about this topic and genuinely cares about students. Labs and the short quizzes after lecture were really helpful. He doesn't take attendance so it can become easy to skip but skipping won't really help you out for the midterm and final. Either way, loved it
Attendance optional, test questions found in weekly lecture quizzes (on Canvas, can take unlimited times until you get 100%) and mainly in lecture slides. Always attend lab as the online labs are usually more difficult and you can't ask as many questions. Lectures can be long but he always provides slides + detailed notes of lecture.
Prof was clear on expectations, flexible with accommodations too. Lectures can be long, but he's so passionate it goes by well. Class was article-reading heavy, as thats to be expected of stem courses. Was also very accessible to someone who wasnt too familiar with chemistry. Overall, would take again -he's so nice and knowledgeable, patient, etc.
Great lecturer and is so sweet!
I've never had a professor that was as kind and helpful as Moore. He's super clear and the lectures are actually interesting. I've never written review on here but he is my favorite prof so far. He's also super interactive and has us do worksheets which I haven't done since high school and really enjoyed! Such a fun class.
