A very bright professor with an incredible ability to explain difficult scientific concepts, I found this class to be quite interesting. While his lecture style is pretty dry, his passion for the subject makes it interesting. The exams aren't too hard if you prepare and learn the cladogram. A very good science GE class.

Wyss is an incredibly nice guy. His lectures can be boring if you're not interested in the subject, but the tests aren't hard and there is very little homework. Don't buy the book

I think Wyss is a great teacher. Yes, some of the material gets a little boring but overall it was a great class. The exams are a bit hard but if you pay attention in lecture you'll do fine. Plus, hes hot!!!!!!!!

officially the most knowledgable instructor I've ever had. also a practicing paleo archeologist, his lectures can get boring, because of his cold personality, but once you get to know him, he's really friendly and helpful. i don't know about his grading, I'm still taking the class =)

As a warning, you will fall asleep in lecture. However, he is very nice and helpful when you need it. The curve is huge, so even if you think you failed, you didn't. Just draw the diagrams. Diagrams are everything.

The "Age of the Dinos" class is not what many of us expected because he covers the material based on an Evolutionary perspective. His lecturing style is a bit unclear with slides mostly of pictures and few readily outlined info; and you have to be quick with taking notes, since everything isn't spoonfed for you. He tries to make it interesting and i give him credit for effort. Yet, somehow he was able to bore me out of my mind in this class. Lectures are so random and have very little tying them together. I didnt know what to write down and what to just let pass by.

Really interesting class and pretty easy for the most part IF YOU GO TO LECTURE. I made the mistake of not going, and my grade suffered. Everything you need to know is in lecture and try not to fall asleep. Andy is awesome and is really into the material but he has a very soft voice that can make you tired. Good class though!

Wyss is very very clear in his lectures. Take notes on what he says and study those for the tests (which are hard but graded very easily). Don't worry about your grade. Don't buy the text, its a waste of money and you don't need it...

I agree with the above except I thought the clss was interesting. It's basically a bunch of pretty colorful slides and u just take note on what he says. Tests are practically only based on notes, so you don't really need a textbook which cost me 75 bucks cause I didn't know I wouldn't need it!

Clear lectures, but simply boring as hell. I think I stayed awake in 2 lectures the whole quarters and that was with help from my carmel latte. Good luck.

The lectures are really boring and unfortunatly your text is only helpful for the labs- which are easy. There is a big curve- so dont worry that much
