This class was not very hard, and the professor was very interesting. However, it is important to not the strange grading rubric. After the quarter ended and before final grades were released, she sent out her grading scale. A+ is 100, A 99-96, A- is 95-94, B+ is 93-32, and a B is 91-89. In no world should a humanities grade in the 90s be a B+.

Very understanding, passionate, and clear prof. All readings were accessible, even printed out for you at times. Heavily based on participation and presentation work. Tough grader but put in the work, and it's extremely worthwhile. Nothing bad to say about Cook other than she's not tech/Canvas savvy at all lol.

One of my favorite professors at UCSB!! Super engaging and brilliant, really helped me improve my skills as an English major. Lots of opportunity for participation, and she listens to what everyone has to say. She cares for her students and wants you to succeed :) One thing is that she's old-school and not super great with canvas...

Brilliant lectures, creates highly interactive spaces for students to discuss thoughts and ideas about the poems we read, and presents material about the authors in interesting ways. If you would like to truly enrich your experience as an English major/minor, please take Dr. Cook's class. You won't regret it

Professor Cook is wonderful and insightful. I enjoyed her style of lecture and the material we read in class. She is a kind professor who cares for her students' learning and success. She is approachable, accessible, and helpful during office hours. Be sure to read the text and do more than one draft on your papers - it really goes a long way.
