He is a good teacher (RMP has a 3/5 as "good"). He knows his stuff, and is passionate. That being said, he is not that flexible. I think most of the geology upperclassmen like Rioux because he teaches a lot of classes. That being said, I am glad to have learned from him, but I am happy to be done with his classes.

The goat. Crazy work load, but the TA's and Matt himself are always willing to help break any questions down for you. Out of all the ES professors, I've learned the most from him! Super approachable, is passionate about what he teaches and wants you to succeed.

Such a great professor. I had him for 104A and 114 as well, and he made the class very fun and clear even though the material can be confusing at times. I enjoyed learning with Matt! Definitely take one of his classes if you have a chance.

Matt is an amazing professor. He really cares about his students, is so kind and always willing to help clarify any material or help you in any way. He is very inspiring, but also his courses require an immense ammount of work as Earth 115 labs would take me like 15 hours a week.

Matt is one of the kindest professors Ive had. He is genuinely a good person and a concise, effective, clear lecturer. He cares deeply about his students success and will go out of his way to help you. The class is intense and requires 10-15+ hours/week outside of class time to complete the labs. Prep for late nights hanging with your microscope

Matt is an amazing teacher that wants his students to pass. He goes above and beyond to help everyone understand what is a tough subject that requires many hours of outside work to finish. Matt has even come in on the weekends to work on his own projects but stopped to help student. I wish he taught more classes.
