Collegeshe throws you into the deep end, only talks in spanish which makes it hard especially if you don't have a strong Spanish background. SO MUCH HOMEWORK, literally over 200 homework assignments. There is an oral exam that has to be a 5 minute long convo which is a bit absurd considering this was an intro level course. I honestly dreaded this class
Sweet and supportive but a super tough grader. There's tons of homework and if you're not already great at Spanish you have to put in lots of work to keep up. Not a bad teacher by any means but the stress of the class isn't something I'd like to do again. Basically if you take her be ready to put in the work!
She was very sweet and amazing till our final grades were released. The average on the final was 60% and will not be curved, so goodbye to everyone's GPA's. Very harsh grading on midterm and final, especially for the first introductory Spanish class.
Profe Caragh is extremely kind and knowledgeable. This class was a good amount of work, but if you read the syllabus, you know exactly what is expected of you and can complete work accordingly. She answers her emails promptly and provides comprehensible feedback on the in-class writing assessments. I would definitely recommend this course!
So brutal. She is a nice profesor, but this class was so hard. She graded very strictly to the rules and was not lenient at all compared to other teacher who were actually of Spanish decent. She was willing to meet outside of class, but would not help with essays.
the worst professor i've had at UCSB. not sure who is getting an A in this class, because she grades so harshly and is very unaccomodating. this class was definitely more work that your average 4 unit class. would highly recommendtaking spanish with a different professor, there's a lot of great others in the department.
