BARRY C M
extremely difficult grader. Doesn't go over the homework but excepts you to know everything/write fluently on the writing assignments. She runs class typical to the spanish department except is incredibly nitpicky when it comes to grading and writing. Cried for hours because of this class. Save yourself.
Comes across as nice but when it comes to grading she marks you off for every little thing. Graded essays like we were supposed to be fluent, even though this is a lower-div class. Overall just a poor teacher and bad grader. Avoid if you can!
Nice person and all but as a professor her class style wasn't supportive of learning Spanish. We mostly talked to our peers for every class, hardly learned from her bc of VHL and had little support irl. Biggest gripe is her extremely nitpicky grading. Nothing is good enough for her and would take points for weird reasons. I'd avoid if I were you!
I took SPAN25 for the Spanish major. This professor is outwardly kind and the class itself is run in a very elementary style. When it comes to grading she is extremely harsh and nit picky with every student. Most grades I heard from others in my class ranged from 60s-80s yet these students are skilled in the language. I don't recommend her AT ALL
She will not teach you anything. We don't do anything but “talking activities” with other classmates and she shows the vocab on the board for maybe 4 seconds and then never lets us practice. She grades on the most minuscule things. For example, i got marked off because I didn't know that spanish titles only capitalize the first word. Can't teach.
she throws you into the deep end, only talks in spanish which makes it hard especially if you don't have a strong Spanish background. SO MUCH HOMEWORK, literally over 200 homework assignments. There is an oral exam that has to be a 5 minute long convo which is a bit absurd considering this was an intro level course. I honestly dreaded this class
