Collegeloved this class and Professor Pandya so much. There was a midterm and a final, both like 3 essay questions. Super predictable questions and all themes heavily discussed in class. Pandya was super knowledgeable and his perspectives were super interesting to hear. Love how the readings built off each other, culminated together beautifully.
I took AS AM 168, but it's not an option cause it a new class. Professor Pandya is by far one of the best professors I've had at this school. He is an extremely intelligent and inspiring Professor. There were only 3-4 papers and attendance/participation as a grade. If you have any chance to take one of his classes I'd jump at it.
Prof Pandya explained concepts in an understandable way. Readings were long and not hard to understand. Midterm and final were based primarily on readings so again just make sure you do them and can get a few concepts/themes to write about. Participate in section and you should be able to get a good grade.
Professor Pandya is one of the most-well spoken instructors I've ever had. His lectures were incredibly interesting and informative, and the topics discussed around Asian American experience were well-developed, and they gracefully related to the assigned readings. The books chosen for the class were valuable for a frame of reference. Overall 10/10
Super informative. Lots of readings w/ specific versions of books you need, but the heavy stuff is at the start of term when you aren't as busy. Graded on 2 exams (3 short essays each) and section participation w/ mini quizzes each week in section but based on completion not quality. Allowed a 2-sided 8x11in note page on exams. Great for GE
