She is a nice lady. But you still have to work for it.

Professor cook is such an intelligent, sweet, helpful, passionate, amazing professor! She truly made class and the subject fun. She is so approachable and is always willing to give a helping hand in office hours! Overall, great person and professor. By far my favorite English professor at UCSB.

Professor Cook is super interested in everything she teaches and everything you have to say. She's understanding when you're having a hard time and genuinely cares about her students. Her class is a good mixture of smaller assignments with a few larger ones (the smaller ones help you stay caught up!) and her finals are not meant to trick you! =)

Brilliant lectures, creates highly interactive spaces for students to discuss thoughts and ideas about the poems we read, and presents material about the authors in interesting ways. If you would like to truly enrich your experience as an English major/minor, please take Dr. Cook's class. You won't regret it
