A rigorous study of strategic interaction. Topics include normal and extensive form games, existence and uniqueness of equilibrium, randomization, minimax, dynamics and equilibrium selection, auctions and bargaining, principle-agent incentives, voting, private contributions to public goods, oligopoly competition, market entry and burning money, wars of attrition.

CollegeClass in itself is not terribly difficult, but attending the lectures is crucial. Posted slides are vague, confusing, and hard to decipher. Attendance is not made mandatory but if you take this class PLS go to lecture
Prof Garratt is great. This class won't stress you out but you will still learn a lot. Lectures are straight from the textbook for the most part. Two quizzes, both multiple choice. Would recommend
A lot of reading but generally fair tests. lectures are interesting, final grade on a curve
Prof Garratt is truly an asset to UCSB. Go to lecture, as he discusses many thought provoking real world examples about Econ. I attended his office hours very frequently as they always proved to be helpful when I was struggling with practice exam questions. He definitely is one of my favorite profs here and I learned a lot while in his class
You can see that this professor really enjoys teaching his students the material, he's easygoing person who loves to see participation in the class. Econ itself can be tricky but reviewing material in the online textbook which has similar questions to the exams helps.
By far one of my favorite professors, he is a great lecture, good person, and on top of the he made the class really easy. Would highly recommend. Take Econ 1 even if you arent going to major in Econ as this class is interesting and easy
